yup. in the 1950s there are less cases of stomach cancer and in 1900 even less cases of cancer and in the 1800s zero cases of cancer.

its sort of the same as how autism has increased 100 fold from 10 years ago. if someone has asperger's disease 10 years ago they would not be considered autistic but now if you have asperger's disease then its considered as a form of autism.
so...stomach cancer masqueraded as some other ailment??
again...that does not fly.

nope. they didn't have the technology to diagnose cancer in the 1800s. it has always been cacner just our definition of cancer has changed over the years, the same way the definition of autism has changed.
we are not talking about the 1800's.
you talked about the 1970's as being medically backwards.

Interesting that you attribute words to me in quote marks that i did not write.

That is a dishonest act on your part, no need for character attack, you have just exposed yourself quite clearly.

If you had any sort of medical training or education then you would know all about Dr Denis Burkitts classic studies on diet and bowel cancer. The fact that you don't just proves that you are completely ignorant on this subject. As such this is a great opportunity for you to be silent, listen to those who are actually knowledgable and learn something.

BTW, i actually read the Lancet magazine, not browse its website, just as i read the BMJ. What do you read?
i paraphrased what you said. i guess i should have stated that but i thought it was obvious.

i don't have blind faith in someone on the internet. this isn't like giving an opinion on a good backpack. medical discussion should be backed up with documented sources. if you don't want to show sources then you shouldn't give your opinion in the health section.

in 1977 we didn't have the diagnosing tools that we do today. medicine wasn't backwards then, its just nowhere near advanced as it is today. in the 70s most doctors didn't even consider owning a computer. MRI scans wasn't even invented until 1973.

it would be ignorant to think that medical science hasn't not increased 100 fold since the 1970s. modern medicine has changed significantly in the last 40 years.

what are you talking about??
trolling much??? bozo:zombie.

did that go over your head?:( sorry i can't make it any simpler.
helliot123, you have already demonstrated that this is a topic on which you are completely ignorant so you really have no grounds whatsoever to talk down to people.

The scientific literature is copious on this subject, unlke you, i have actually studied this. Go away and actually read the studies, as i have done. This is all very well documented and attested stuff. Dr Denis Burkitt did the initial ground breakng work and anyone with the slightest modicum of knowledge on the topic will know all about him.

The next time i mention gravity do you want me to link to a peer reviewed paper confirming gravities existence? The next time i mention the seasons will you want me to link to a peer reviewed paper confirming the rotation of the Earth?

state what your background is. do you work for a medical institute in research or something like that?
I'm not saying I have a cause for the increase of stomach cancer, I'm saying there hasn't been much focusing on what I mentioned. As you know cancer is a very complex illness almost never with only one cause.

BTW, I don't take orders. You could have asked nicely.

i first hand had stomach cancer at the young age of 15....i was not over weight my no means.....i was 6ft 175 of lean muscle...i was a top notch athlet, running min. 5 miles a day,a full strentgh training....ate healthy also(mom didnt allow soda, and couldnt afford "junk" food).....Here is my story.....

15 yr old, great shape...was running and puked up blood. next day went to hospital...dignosed with stomach ulcer.....they ended up taking 3 biopsys, conferming i had stomach cancer....took my first chemo therapy and played a high school basketball game(32 mins) 3 hours after my treatment...felt fine for 3 days, then i collapsed onto the floor....the 1 treatment burnt out 80% of my tumor, perpherating my stomach wall....3 days later woke up with a 12 inch scare on my belly and a half stomach.....couldnt consume food for almost a year(feed through viens) i yr later 6'2" 110 lbs(talk about scary)....12 yeras later and doin fine. 6'4" 230 lbs(wanna drop to 215-20)

my thoughts!!!cancer is a population control......on my block alone 13 ppl has had some form of cancer in the last 10 years or so.....only 8 houses on my block....

Cancer sure is a weird illness. I mean I watched a TV show and a little baby had cancer.

We basically don't have cancer in our families. If I include everyone I know who is related to me and that is quite many, there is one case of cured breast cancer, one case of fatal multiple myeloma and one case of basal cell cancer (in someone with very little pigmentation) and one died from lung cancer very heavy smoker before I was born.

its also bull crap for any human, be them a doctor or not, to tell another they have a certain time before they die. 7 trillion cells in human body and they all communicate. now stop and think about that. its like a company buying out another and then walking onto the production floor and telling the workers hey your ok but in 4 months we are closing down and your out of a job. what do you suppose is going to happen to production from that point forward.
I like the commercial on tv where the lady Peggy goes to treatment centers of America and she mentions to the Dr about dieing and the response is" we did a lot of tests and not 1 time did we find an expiration date on you.THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING IS AMAZING. dont ya think????

Really not surprising, as the advent of chemical laden over processed food and it's popularity.
Less and less nutrients more and more of things that we have no idea of the long term use effects of in our food today.

Mom, Pa and junior eat junk food, Junior has kids who eat junk food who has kids who, damn has cancer, diabetes HBP and some rare new disease.

And it's some big mystery???

And no pill for stupid.....Damn

Ain't for lack of trying as they sure are pushing those pills and putting down nutrients

Friend just came in the other day. Told me about his good friend, she had breast cancer, verified by the medical community. She was also a nurse. When she found out she decided to go the alternative route. Went to some clinic outside the states.
They put her or an all raw diet, a regime of bowel cleansing and supplements. After a year her cancer was completely gone again verified by the medical community . After a time she got tired of juicing and maintaining the diet, within a year the cancer came back.
She followed the path of radiation and chemo and was dead in a year.
Just a shame.....

Maybe only an anecdote, but it illustrates an important point. I am sorry for your friend :( We have diets increasingly removed from what our bodies evolved to ingest. Our digestive tracts become clogged up, our bodies become filled with strange chemicals and we actually wonder why we have these new diseases.

We are poisoning ourselves and because it is too much bother to put aside convienence foods we deliberately refuse to accept the obvious truth.

Sorry to hear that, someone very close to me went the same way two years ago.

As for me, I believe in the old saying... "You are what you eat."

I always hear people saying their on this diet or on that diet or some new trendy diet or don't know what to eat. I always think to myself, didn't their parents feed them right? It's fairly simple. Everyone should know how to eat clean and healthy. Though if your in a hurry and on the road you have few choices mostly sugar and grease.

I always use the stove or oven and make everything from scratch. I don't even own a microwave.

its probabley a link to better diagnosing techniques. we didn't have the same technology in 1977 that we do in 2010.

.
If the rates were the same 1977, yet it was harder to diagnose then more people would have died from it do to not being diagnosed in time for effective treatment. The statistics don't back up your theory.
