Are there any all natural alternatives for douching? If I were in the wilderness for an extended period of time would it be safe to use water? Or something else?

I would say yes.

Here's a pretty good article on the subject (even though it's from an HIV/AIDS resource group): http://www.thebody.com/content/treat/art941.html

The dangers of douching are threefold. First of all, douching can cause irritation and inflammation of vaginal tissues, which make it easier for STDs and HIV to set up shop in our bodies. Secondly, douching can actually cause an infection by disrupting the natural balance of bacteria and yeast in the vagina. [...] Thirdly, douching can complicate an existing infection, perhaps even to the point of serious health risk.

YOu should never ever douche...it is your body's way of empty your lady part. You mess up your natural ph balance. And yes that is why you get yeast infections. Stop douching, eat lots of plain yougurt with prebiotic cultures and drink 100% pure cranberry juice. In a couple months everything will be spring fresh on its own. Oh yeah, skip the thongs and wear 100% pure cotton panties so down there can breath. You may want to hand wash said undies with a mild baby soap too... regualar soap can irratate,

Douching isn't strictly necessary. Plain water externally is just fine. If you absolutely must douche, simple vinegar and water will do nicely.

EXCUSE ME!

I don't know what the HELL you are talking about, but YOU are the one following me around my threads stalking me.

Get a clue and leave me alone. I'm asking legit questions and taking part in discussion. Just because you don't agree with my lifestyle or political views doesn't mean you need to be making baseless accusations. You have NO IDEA who I am.

F*ck off.

DECLAN, you sir are going in my killfile. If you don't like my posts I'd suggest you do the same to me. I have no interest in talking to you. All you are doing is following me around and trying to give me a bad name because you don't agree with what I've said in a political thread.

Wow! Again...What a lunatic you are! Killfile? What are you? A deranged assassin? Assassins for Obama?

Don't flatter yourself. I am not following you around. You just surface in all the wrong places...killer:rolleyes:.

This has gotten way off topic, folks.

I'm sorry you doubt who I am, but I really don't care. I plan on staying here, learning, and making some sort of contribution to the community. Given time you will all see that you are wrong about me.

Please don't let heated political debates & passions spill out in to other areas. If you don't have any suggestions or information on douching please do not post in this thread.

...and you became a mod....when?

Look, thread drift happens. Nature of the internet beast. Deal with it.
As to questions of your gender, easily answered. A couple folks here have my phone number--and real name--in case of emergencies. (I spoke to some of them during Hurricane Ike!)
It's nice to have *virtual* friends that spill over into the *meat world*.

About douching...any female over the age of 18 that has spent time online, gone to a gynecologist or read up on female anatomy knows that it is unnecessary and borderline harmful. It alters the ph of the vaginal canal (which is a delicate mucus membrane), paves the way for yeast infections, bacterial infections, etc and makes a woman more apt to catch STDs during sex.

Yep, my gynecologist told me to quit douching when I was 21 or so. I was pregnant with my first son. I believe he enjoyed embarrassing me.

One nice thing about douches though is that they can help neutralize the stench of skunked dogs. I keep a couple just because my big boy can't learn his lesson that he should leave the black and white striped "kitties" alone. That's about all they're good for though. De-skunking the dog.
