OK, I plan on seeing the movie later, but it won't change my contention that we should try to negotiate with the living dead, walking dead, zombies or whatever they prefer to be called. That we don't even have a polite, acceptable term for them shows there's likely a huge miscommunication occurring and we can come to some agreement.

hehehehehe. Looking forward to later today.

Here is my review, from a SB perpective: warning, light spoiler alerts, I won't give the whole movie away.

My wife was immediately freaked out during the previews (which caused her to be on edge the entire movie)...for some upcoming horror that looks lame, The Conjuring. Another scary house movie.

So WWZ starts, just like the previews show. The grocery store scene was incredible, it shows accurately how things will be...the cop is eye opening, but Brad's leaving his kids and wife unattended is horrific (how could he have been unarmed this whole time except for a rifle he finds in the RV?)

Brad made a few dumb move...including when in Jerusalem, he should have spoken up louder and quicker to stop the noise. A real leader would have jumped into the crowd and taken the mic away.

The other "dumb" thing was the C130 flying all over the world and always having enough fuel...then when it does get refueled it only gets it for a minute or two. The choppers also seemingly about to fly around and never need fuel...this is a common movie gaff, and not that big of a deal.

The movie wasn't as bad as some of the reviews made it seem and I'd watch it again for sure. Almost wished there was more zombie fighting, but they aren't like the slow Walking Dead zombies, these guys are fast and every fight is fast passed. In that respect they are scarier than Walking Dead's zombies.

The only thing I didn't like: the US ship convoys were always called "UN Fleet"...it was big time pushing the UN, 1 world government in my humble opinion.

George E Romero

Dawn of the Dead was warning about consumerism.

Day of the Dead was criticising the Military Industrial Complex and the suppression of technology by the ptb.

Land of the Dead was critical of the elimination of the middle-classes via a polarization of rich and poor.

Mel Brooks

WWZ - The working and middle-classes being swept aside by the intranationalists (UN etc) via a zombie-scourge.

My husband said he couldn't "understand" the book. I guess its a good thing he never tried to read A Clockwork Orange either. But of course he wants to see some zombie killing. I like a good action movie, and will just have to set aside preconceived notions that it will bear ANY resemblance to the book. Just like I Am Legend, the book WWZ is becoming a SF classic but I predict the movie will be as quickly forgotten as all the previous film versions of I Am Legend.

So I went and saw the movie last night. They released it at 8:15 instead of midnight which was the reason my girlfriend and I went. There were only about 40 people in the theater to my surprise. The movie is full of action. As Preacherboy said, it does have a lot of common movie technical errors, (fueling of the planes etc) but it doesn't take away from the movie itself. The fact that they feature women soldiers in Israel is testament to the fact that they got most of it right. I didn't read the book because my friend didn't finish it in time to pass it on so I cannot make the connection there but the plot is pretty well laid out. The beginning of the movie, the first 15 minutes or so, really reflect the realities of an unprepared society. The UN thing was a little much but again I don't know what relation it has to the book so maybe they were just following the original author's ideas. Overall, it was a great movie to go see and I will definitely watch it again when it hits Redbox. If you like zombies and are dying with anticipation to watch another season of the Walking Dead then this is definitely a go see movie.

I wanted to yell "Bull****!!!" in the theater when the C130 was launched off the aircraft carrier. WHY can't they make a realistic zombie movie? :D:

If you go see it expecting to see WWZ ,the book, onscreen...... you'll be disappointed. But if you take it for what it is, its OK.

The best thing is the ending kind of alluded to a sequel so maybe they'll do better in the next one.

Brakes applied fully, engines at top speed. Bet that biotch has some interesting creaking, groaning and harmonics going on in a take off like that??? And the rocket assist they do at airshows.... OMG It goes 45* effortlessly.

Anyone here ever ride her in that configuration???? I pay a weeks wages for a takeoff like that!!!!:thumb:

Remember the one they configured with the stop rockets to land in the STADIUM!!! I think they said it crashed due to malfunction or pilot error in trials but they said plane could have done it. Bad azz piece of hardware.....

Back to the OP, i wanna see the movie even if it is kinda unbelievable. But i also liked ARNY in Predictor, and Bruce Willis in Die Hard harder, even more deader, and die even harder longer number 15!! hahahaha

We haven't seen it yet but we both read the book and know from the onset, it will be nothing like that so putting aside all preconceived notions.

As far as the powers of Puff the Magic Dragon (C130), anyone who thinks that monster is a slug, is sadly mistaken, she can be just as bad a$$ as anything out there, she has a valiant service record and she can power thru when other, newer, drastically more expensive birds would fall out of the sky. She is one of my all time favorite rides and I love her. She's a grand old lady that will kick your butt and take names.

I read the book. I saw the movie this evening. Loved the book. I really liked the movie. The story is always moving forward. Some very deliberate zombie humor included in the movie. I cracked a couple of zombie jokes at opportune moments and had people around me laughing. I even made myself laugh. Very different than the book but still very entertaining. Glad I spent the money to see it on the big screen.

Well- in Brad's hair's defense...

I think he was going for the "war reporter" look. Plus he was supposed to be retired for who knows how long.

Hollywood has a serious problem with trailers these days. They either make the movie look REALLY stupid, or they show every single good scene from the movie.

I saw this movie last night, and took the family again today. It's actually a pretty good Z movie. The chaos and people reaction scenes at the beginning are scary (cuz they seem accurate)

All in all, a pretty entertaining flick. Allowing for the usual suspension of disbelief that must accompany all H-weird productions these days.

SPOILERS.

Prepper lessons:
1.) Keep your go bag ready, especially when traveling by car.
2.) Keep critical meds stashed in go bags, one on each parent, etc..
3.) Concealed weapon, Hello ? Hoping your kid finds one in a stolen RV is pretty thin. Especially in NYC.
4.) Untrained people shouldn't be issued guns, no matter the scenario.
4-a: Keep your finger off the trigger. lol.
5: Israeli soldierettes are tough and cute. Pair me up anytime !

Suspension of belief:
1.) I didn't and don't like H-weird coying up to the UN. Several movies lately portray the UN as a potential and well organized savior of the world and we all know it's the opposite.

2.) the zombies movement was superhuman. allowing that it's a zombie flick, I guess this is just creative license.

3.) The C-130 off a carrier looked fake. I saw the clip from above and it is within the realm of possibility. BTW, the plane showing when launching looked like a 4 engine transport with a weird Fokker-like tail. Then immediately it is shown with a C-130 tail. This visual oops is repeated later in the film. Look for it.

3 a.)It takes 30-40 minutes with a two man crew that is anything from quiet to fully fuel a C-130. In the movie this is accomplished quietly and in a few minutes. (The fuel truck must idle up and the APU must be running.)

4.) Pitt's characters role in this is unclear. Obviously he is a former investigator of some type for the UN and was noted to be able to get into and out of places like Bosnia and other hell holes unscathed. He is, however, not a doctor and has no real medical training except combat first aid. Yet by the end of the movie he has enough detective clues to put the source of the infection together and form a hypothetical plan that several MDs and PhD's didn't think of or dismissed. His character is important enough that a simple phone call from his supervisor gets him all the credibility in the world towards the end of the movie.

In the first part of the movie, Pitt's character is highly sought out and a heliborne rescue team strikes out to find him. Anybody know if there's room for 9 people on a Dauphin ?

5.) The infection has a 12 second to 10 minute incubation rate, from initial infection to full on screaming zombie. Yet one still manages to appear towards the end of the flight and ruin the day.

Go see it. Make fun of it here...lol

Yes there is. I just flew on one two days ago. :)
