MORE relevant news that validates the value of civilian gun ownership, and that Rachel Maddow, John Stewart, and the big networks will likely ignore....

"A concerned son’s decision to buy his mother a gun just last week out of fear for her safety proved wise Thursday morning.

The woman, a widow who lives alone in a crime-plagued Columbus, Ohio neighborhood, grabbed her gun after a man broke through her front window at around 5 a.m., according to Columbus’ 10TV.

“She was armed and apparently fired multiple shots at him,” Columbus Police Sgt. Dave Sicilia told the news station.

The unnamed suspect had attempted to rob a house across the street. After residents there forced him out of the upstairs window, he broke into the widow’s home through her window.

After the woman shot him, he was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead at around 7 a.m."

I see this a lot. When its a news story, and not necessarily on a biased community like Fox or MSNBC, you see that most people are actually pro-gun and pro-freedom on the top comments. I see this all over the place. On facebook, on CNN, and other places. The news itself can be as statist as can be, but regular folks are for freedom. But the government, in its bid to steal your rights, will continue to parrot "115% of Americans are for universal background checks and common sense confiscations...."

Hope this story has a happy ending. But to the "straw purchase" comment. I don't think it can be construed as a straw purchase if a gun was gifted from one family member to another in the same state provided that neither parties has a felony. Different states vary though to be sure, but I don't think Ohio has the same draconian laws like NY, CT, CA, etc.

Interesting article on the subject below, but do confirm your state laws as well:
