Imported things. Chocolate, tea, herbs, spices, flavorings.

Don't drink coffee, but dread the day when others that do don't have any more. And it would be a shame not to be able to get the some of the finer imported spirts, though i can't imbibe anymore.

What will I miss most?

healthcare. those with us who have diabetes will no doubt perish rather quickly
Meds for my tuberculosis
Internet
New video games.
Dairy queen
reese cups
Easily accessible electricity. (for those of us who do not have solar, wind etc...)
like cleatis said, walmart and other super stores where you could buy almost anything you wanted under one roof.
Ease of transportation, what used to take me 30 minutes to get somewhere by freeway will now take days on foot.
sense of security from criminals and other types of swindlers, con men.

The Real news of what's going on everywhere
Being able to hop into the truck and go anywhere I want at any time without bodyguards
Electricity, especially for Air Conditioning
Books on tape
Salmon steaks
Fresh tropical fruit and fine chocolates
Going out to dinner
Vast quantities of reasonably priced and easily accessible clothing
Wolford thigh highs and high heels
Expensive handbags
Fracas Perfume
and probably Flowerbomb perfume

Tea and cigarettes. These are the only luxuries I see as necessities, although they are not.

If teowaki did happen, I could see myself in a community decades in the future drinking beer in what counts for a bar then telling the young ones -

'Boys, a beer and a smoke just go together, I can remember, I know. Stuff was bad for you, but some times what is so wrong is so right. If you had too many beers, cup of tea or several the next day and the world is an improving place'.

Champagne and very good brandy I would miss too, but I would be too busy with life to really miss them. Alternatives exist.

Healthcare and the like? I would not miss it a bit, not used it for decades and when I did, I realise I did not have to. Only useful for those that want to cheat Mother Nature and Darwin.

Chit.....know what?...I really don't think I would miss a thing.....we need to get back to the "way it used to be" IMO........I'm relly fed up with all the "modern conveniences" we have grown accoustomed to....not a "gloom and doomer" here, just fed up with all the "entitlements" that folks think they have coming to them now days.....

Honestly, other than AC and toilet paper, I agree with you 100%. Oh and my wife NOT b!tching about the other things no longer there. Seriously though, I watch movies like Mountain Men, Last of the Mohicans, Patriot, even Last Samurai, and shows like that new one, Mountain Men on History channel. I love the scenery, the simplicity of life (as hard as it was), and just wish it was that way. We live on 7 acres rented from a friend who also lives on it. We have chickens, sheep, gardens, and we're getting ready to buy a couple more cows. I hunt and fish, hike and back pack. The further from the grid the better. We lost power for a day a few weeks ago, downed power line, I was having a ball. Got the solar showers out, cause I had stored water, the camp stove, etc. Happy as a clam. My wife and my friends always said I was born in the wrong century.

Leisure time, Internet, medical service, and the ability to travel safely and with relative ease to anywhere I might want to go.
