Here is mine a humble Timex expedition.
I prefer one like this so it can be used as a compass.
Sorry for the crap pic, The camera has been drinking again.

I use a Seiko Titanium chonograph . Since I am a Watchmaker/jeweler Batteries are not a problem. If I had to buy a watch today I would go with a Citizens Eco drive With a stainless steel case. We sell them and they cause very few problems. By the way a analog watch can be used as a Compass follow this link http://www.learn-orienteering.org/old/nocompass1.html

Luminox Navy Seal dive watch. Had it for 7 years now. I'm tough on watches 'cause I'm always in or around water and it has never failed me. I've worn the black finish completely off the back, broke and replaced the strap twice and broke the timing bezel once. Luminox repaired everything quickly and reasonably.

I'd get one again if this one dies, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Don't know, actually. It's a pocket watch my daughter bought for Christmas a few years back. Has a Locomotive on the front and the face says "japan movt" and "quartz". I always carry a pocket watch unless I'm riding my motorcycle and then I wear a Timex wristwatch as it's a little inconvenient to try and dig out the pocket watch at 60mph to see what time it is.

i dont wear one and havent since i worked in a hospital 20 yrs ago .I dont ever plan on wearing one in the future..... um just curious but what ya'll needing them enslaving contraptions for in shtf or any real outdoor thing other than for the commando raids n using them as a really bad rendition of a compass?;)
I think a watch could be used to determine how much daylight is left. So you'd know how much time you had to build a shelter or search for water. Also You'd need a watch for making patrol maps.

I'm sorry I just can't see spending $3,000 dollars for a watch. All it does is tell the time and date. Oh yeah, and its waterproof to 1000 meters for when you have to bug out to the bottom if the Atlantic.

How important would a watch be? In a survival situation. I think a 30-100 dollar watch would more than suffice for anyone's realistic needs.
