During my time in the service I was fortunate enough to see all the branches in action, as well as a few foriegn militaries. And in my biased opinion the worlds finest fighting man is:

The U.S. Marine.

No greater friend, no worse enemy.

But...I do respect the rest of our services and appreciate anyone that has the guts to serve. Thanks.

The reason I like the Coast Guard, even though I'm Army, and other than my Dad being a Coastie, is that during peace-time they are doing the job day-in and day-out (Rescue, Patrolling, Drug Interdiction, etc...). While during peacetime, the other branches of service mostly just train, train, and train some more.

Navy: no way, my only fear of death is by drowning
Army: The recruiter told me to talk to the Air Force(after seeing my ASVAB score and I refused the few fields he offered)
Marines: They scare me **sheepishly pulls blanket over head**

It's hard for me to choose --- I had a son in the Infrantry, one currently in the Calvery (attached to the 3rd Armored Div.), and one just our of the Marine Corps. Still have one left that hasn't decided wheather he wants to enlist or not.

i had to vote army, the paras are gods among men. :thumb:

but i have total respect for any service man or woman who has served or is serving.

the marines are a scary bunch! in aldershot, a para town, a marine walked into a pub that was 'para only'... the paras were playing the usual pub games... stapleing beer mats to their foreheads ect... so the marine see this and laughes, drops out his man hood and staples his nut sack to the table, but the staple gun he uses had big staples in... he cant get the staple out! a para whips out a bayonet and offers the stranded marine a hand... noone knows how the story ends????

Well, when that happened to me. (Or so I'm told, THAT 3 day pass is kind of a blur for some reason. lol) I whipped out my Ka-Bar and pried them loose enough to rip myself loose.
