All I have on the back of my Truck is a FDNY sticker- any part with THAT offend you?
where did i say that i was offended??!

i said...
if thats your thing, then fine. knock yourself out. i couldnt be bothered.:thumb:
if you came to the conclusion that i was offended by that phrase, then you should work on your reading comprehension.

"any part with THAT offend you?"

while you are at it, you could also work on sentence structuring :thumb:

Sorry that has happened to you.

I was told by a friend one time (he was LEO), that if you are doing the speed limit and everybody around you is going 15 miles per hour faster than you, you could get a ticket for impeding the flow of traffic. That, as I understand is something that is expected when your driving west of Oklahoma to the west coast.

We got any CHIP or any of the other state highway patrol here in the Forum that can let us know if this is correct or not?

Boatsmac
I asked a ISP friend of mine and he said yes you COULD be ticketed but most LEO's here won't.

Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember when and why those hanging "baby on board" signs were used. They were made to let responders know, in the event of an accident, that there is a child in the car. They started making them after an accident, the driver was taken to the hospital but no one knew there was a child in the car till way too late. It was a good idea at the time. Unfortunately it required a reasonable amount of "common sence" to be effective, therefore it failed in it's intent and became a fad.
It's the kind of solutions people came up with before it became popular to demand that the government pass useless laws to restrict civil liberties and releave individuals of the burden of personal resposability.
that would be nice, if it still meant that. However it seems most people who have those baby on board stickers dont even have a child in the car 90% of the time...they just leave them there.

sides, what EMT would not check the seats for unconscious people slumped down. I cant really see someone leaving a scene without atleast giving the vehicle a good once over

some parts :D mostly the N parts :D seems too negative lol

I have a different view about that now. I used to warn oncoming drivers of cops all the time untill I learned that many serial killers, murderers, child molestors and other criminals were caught by a cop making a moving violation or maybe a light out. Just a common traffic stop. So, I've decided I had rather have some poor person not paying attention to their speed to get a ticket than warn some pervert that may have a child tied up in their trunk, that a cop was just around the corner. I used to be a cop, so I know this to be true. Selah.

Interesting perspective.....I have heard this as well.

that is called interfering with official police business, and improper use of your high beams/headlights. you should allow the people coming your way to receive punishment for their actions. if they are speeding they deserve to be stopped. would you tell a bank robber to turn around and go the other way cause the swat team is looking for them around the next corner? what if that speeder has a kidnapped person in the trunk? would you be ok knowing you just assisted a kidnapper? people need to be responsible for their actions, one of the things that is wrong with this country is that no one is willing to own up to their mistakes. let the cops do their job. they do not come to your job and run customers out of your business so why would you do it to them? around here they actually set up speed traps and pull people over for improper use of high beams when they catch them flashing other motorists.

i am not trying to offend anyone. this is just my two cents.

Does anyone else flash other motorist when they see police cars looking to catch speeders?

I see it as just common curtsy. They don't want a ticket any more than you do and the LEO job is to get people to slow down so your doing them a favor anyways

More people should flash there lights and give warning
Do you also warn the guy that is shoplifting that a store employee is coming?

Do you also tell a tagger that is spraying a wall that the cops are around the corner?

Do you warn a DUI driver about a checkpoint ahead?

Do you also warn car thieves about owners coming toward their cars?

I think you get the jist of what I'm saying. Once you get a little more mature I'm pretty sure your mindset will change....especially after you have children.

This is just my opinion and here it is;

I see a speeding ticket as a tax. The faster you go then the higher tax you are willing to pay so why get POd when you get pulled over?

I don't flash my lights for speeding oncoming traffic.

I do flash traffic about a hazard they will be coming apon ie. an acident, cop pulled someone over around a bend, deer in the road, people walking or biking, tractor etc...

In closing only speed if you're willing to pay the tax.

Thats how it always was when i was growing up but i had not seen this happen for about 10 years untill a few days ago and i was doing about 7 over car flashed me i slowed down and sure enough around the next turn was a cop. It saved me a ticket . Yes i was speeding but who doesnt? I just wasnt paying attention and got going a little fast. It would be nice if everyone did this more often.

I don't speed.

Anyone remember when the little waving hands were popular? I had one, broke the index, ring and pink finger off.

I have little choice regarding the speed limit.

I do this as well. You don't see people do that much anymore. I appreciate it when others do it, although I usually don't have anything to worry about b/c I drive the speed limit the majority of the time.
I commute in a Geo Metro. If I make it to the speed limit, I am having a good day!

For me it is more about what the speeder is doing.

Warning folks goin' 70 mph in a 65? ::flash:: Most cars are safe at 70, most folks fail to check their speedometers every now and again, and the government can get more of my money the day they prove they can use it wisely.

Nutjob doing 120 mph? I wouldn't (literally) lift a finger to help 'em.

Did that sign get you any unwarranted attention?

Many years ago when these signs first came out I made my own sign that said "Thermonuclear warhead in trunk", I figured if people would be worried about hitting a car with a "Baby on board" sign, then they would really be careful about hitting my car.....
Did that sign get you any unwarranted attention? I envision getting pulled over...next thing you know an NBC tent is being dropped over your vehiecle...

I used to drive a honeywagon.

While we are discussing driving here's a little something for some people to think about next time you wish to cut off a truck, or change lanes only to slam your breaks.

Avg 18-Wheeler weighs 80,000lbs with a loaded trailer. (Box Van Trailer, flatbed's can go much heavier with permits)

At 55mpg it takes over two football fields to stop that 80,000lb truck

The surge from a tanker truck, when the liquid rolls back forward after heavy sudden braking can and has pushed the entire truck through intersections.

Most air brake systems have a delay between hitting the brake and when the system engages the brakes, (its a very small delay, but its not like your prius)

Brake fade is very common when traveling up and down hills, those run off lanes you see on highways in mountainous terrain are built for tractor trailers that loose their brake systems.

And a good rule of thumb, if you cant see the trucks mirrors, the truck can't see you.
I used to drive a honeywagon on mountain roads as a country park ranger. People would tail gate me often.

I still don't understand. Is crashing into a sewage truck a great way to go?

So you are saying that you would warn all of the criminals above? If so I am curious to where you draw the line....robbery, rape, murder, child molestation, child abuse.....where is your line?
