I went to Walmart this afternoon. My wife wanted a pressure cooker. Since I was there, I decided to visit the firearm dept. The usually full glass, rifle case was empty, except for a long list of rifles, stating maker, caliber and price. Most were Remington 770’s in 223, 243, 270, 308, 30-06, 300 win mag and 7mmmag.
All nib with a 3x9x40 scope.....$190.00. WTH, I bought the 300 win mag just to do my bit as a good American and help stimulate the economy. I sure as hell don’t need another rifle, but at that price, well, I’m sure you understand.

After reading the post last night the phone was on fire this morning.
Family members picked up a Remington Model 770 (with Scope) in 300 Win Mag, 30-06(4) and 243.

Our store had several Savage 30-06 (no scope)for $175. Store manager said keep checking back for other clearance guns coming up in next several weeks.

Other friends going tomorrow to other stores to see what they have left.

I buy something from Amazon almost once a day (minimum twice a week) for myself or my store. I'm doing what I can to stimulate the economy (while satisfying my impulse to buy stuff I don't need). I'm no fan of Jeff Bezos but we have few choices these days. I'm no fan of Kroger or Walmart or Home Depot or any of the other sell-out companies either. If there were any pro-American companies left I'd give them my business, exclusively.

And congrats on the gun buy, PK. Too bad Amazon wouldn't sell and ship them direct.

My $190, 300 win mag, sub moa shooter. I floated the and threaded the barrel, added the brake, bipod, scope and sling. They’re manufactured with an adjustable trigger. I polished the bolt and the action is quite smooth. It’s a great shooter.

Oh noes.....say it ain't so! Doncha know that's a cheap crap made for Walmart gun? The receiver ain't hardened, they don't even screw the barrel in, it'll blows apart.....LOL.:D::D::D:

It never ceases to amaze me the crap you see on the internet, LOL. Glad that rifle shoots for ya PK, no reason it wouldn't. The 300WM isn't generally known for eating throats, unlike some calibers so it should give you long service. Myself, I've been having this hankering for a 338 Lapua. Don't ask. There is no why LOL. For some odd reason, I've been drawn to the Ruger Precision. I don't know why because I hate that Tubb-lookin' MF'er LOL. But danged if that rifle isn't just perfectly fit to me and perfect for what I want it for. Dang.

Dude, it's all your fault. I had to get one in .308.
I was surprised that the scope seems to be usable, but I will know more tomorrow, hopefully.

The trigger seems pretty good too. :D:

I went to a different Walmart than the two that I have used before for similar.
I was pleasantly surprised that the two men that helped me were knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. The transaction was quick and smooth. I almost forgot where I was. :D:

Glad I could help...:D: How much did you pay? I find the scope to be decent and suitable for a 22lr, but not on a caliber of long range capability. I prefer 20x minimum for long ranges.

Dang, I gotta get time to get by one of the area Wal-marts. I bet the flippers bought them all up already though. They did that with he muzzleloaders that Wal-mart clearanced here a few months ago. Some of these guys go in and buy 10 rifles and then Double the price and put them on Armslist. No problem making money, but half of them draw a government check and have nothing better to do than beat working folks to the deals. They did the same stuff during the .22 drought. Making cash money they don't pay taxes on. If you are too disabled to work and get a disability check, I figure you shouldn't be able to run to every store in the area every other day and hunt and fish all year. Sounds to me like you could work if someone made you.

Picking up a .270 or .243 would be a good option right now as ammo is still on the shelf for those most places I see.

Maybe, they may not discontinue anything 9mm?

Which is for the most part what I use now for everything.

9mm is just what I have grown to use.

Its been three years sense I took a deer with my .30-06. Would not use 9mm for deer hunting.

I LOVE to burn Hog and varmint bodies at deer camp while drinking.

Let the deer hunters sit in the stands and hunt deer at 4 AM after I clean the place out of varmints.

I am having a good breakfast and coffee while all of them gut deer in camp. Loads of fun.
