We all are familiar with the many variations of camouflage as shown below, but what is YOUR urban camoflage? Considering there can be a number of changing landscapes in an urban environment, how do you best blend in and become a part of this landscape?

Old Doc, I see you too were a Corpsman. I was an HM1 (FMF) and saw many applications of cover and concealment including camoflage. Here is a more extreme version of what I would wear in order to be a Gray Guy...

Interesting that when I have asked this before, the responses I got were about camo patterns, not other forms of diversion.

Wear whatever you like, your actions will give you away. Just like a country boy can tell a city boy in overalls and work boots, the same is true for us cityslickers - we can spot the people that just fell off the farm truck.
Not that many care - hence the post here about "WHY would you be in a ghetto?" - I can't tell you how I might unwillingly end up in the country, but SHTF won't care. I train in the country - how many of you come train in the city?
Watching videos about "us" or one weekend a year being shacked up in a hotel that you never leave doesn't count anymore than one weekend at a B&B in the country and watching Duck Dynasty would for a city dweller.

Good threat for a newbie. I think staying low $ is absolutly important. No watches or rings, no bling at all.

I often have a dummy wallet and dead cellphone with me here in our town if I get held up and handing those over makes more sence than pulling my CCW. Let the idiots wear the Browning Arms jackets and $ 400 boots, that will never blend in.

Did slip past a guy out robbing people one time by acting insane and yelling at the trees and things that were not there. The guy down the street was not so lucky.

Urban areas are about access. You need to look like you belong there and are capable or suffer the consequences of extra scrutiny. Which could be no access, limited access, or detainment.

In an emergency situation this becomes even more crucial. Looking like a bum will get you no access. Looking like a mall ninja won't either.

I would think a simple work uniform like that of a construction or a utilities person (if that is not the cause of the emergency) would cover most of the bases.

When I was active duty, one of the coolest jobs I occasionally got was to try and breach security in secure facilities like the Base Alert Facility, armory, nuke bunkers, etc.. among others.

I found myself trying all kinds of different "work uniforms".
never was able to weasel my way in but got close a few times.
Didn't help my efforts that they knew their security would be tested so they were more alert, but I would be afraid to try if they didn't know it was only a test. I'd hate to get shot and tell the guy "Dude I was sent here to test your reactions!, god job Btw......croak"

Had a lot of fun doing that. :thumb:

Personally, I wear blue jeans/contractor pants and button up shirts and my hat really everyday. I can pass for "high class" if I need to, and can pop the collar, turn the hat at an akward angle, slouch and pass by as a bum.
If you mean a camo pattern, there really isnt one. Personally if SHTF, I would only move around in urban areas at night, and even then its woodland camo pants and my black combat shirt. Now given I also have a Gen II NVG monocular to make night travel slightly easier, but still hide and look normal.
In short, blend with the surroundings as best as you can, or be indiscreet if your out of place (think the opening scene of the Delta guy in Black Hawk Down)
