Try Compassion Before Death Penalty

The increased use of the death penalty would decrease the amount of violent crime here in the United States. However, compassion for our violent citizens who can't seem to control their urges to attack, rob, rape and terrify others should still be used. Proper use of prison boot camps and work details would reduce both the cost and length of prison terms of violent offenders. This would also offer a better chance at rehabilitation.

Our current systems of prisons are not effective in reducing crime. Recidivism for prior inmates is 68%. Youthful, first time offenders whose crimes are not too horrific, should be placed in prison boot camps---not our military. Discipline should be along the lines of what can be seen in the movie Full Metal Jacket. For those who backslide and become second time violent offenders, a few years spent working dawn till dusk in a chain gangs would encourage more positive behavior. Please know, what was not considered cruel and unusual punishment by our Founding Fathers in 1787 should never be construed as cruel or unusual today.

The death penalty should be reserved only for third-time or greater violent felons, and those whose acts are clearly outlandish and violent. Examples are capital murderers, child and preditory rapists, carjackers and home invasion artists. To promote "green technology," ropes made of hemp should be employed to carry out the sentancing, preferably the next morning. Of course nothing is going to change until the people vote to overturn the unconstitutional use of judicial review by federal judges.

Too many people believe that capital punishment is the same thing as murder. Are there not three kinds of homocide: criminal, justifiable and praiseworthy? Our current catch and release strategy of crime control has created hundreds of thousands of extra dead victims in the last generation. Executing a felon is not murder, it is called justice. I hope my very liberal and compassionate views have not offended any of the conservative readers of this forum. Thank you.

Are you serious? Why should I have any compassion for one human who has no compassion for others that they victimize? If you are ever a victim of a violent crime such as rape or aggravated battery, I hope you have a lot of compassion for them and testify on their behalf.

I personaly have great issues with this
If you take a life intensionally, rape, molest you deserve no compasion you do how ever deserve a strong rope wrapped around your neck or hot lead imbedded in your skull

I also dont believe in "life" in prison on bit If you get 25-life Its a huge waste of tax payer money

Many may not agree But its how I feel

Our legal system and courts and such are flawed aswell the whole system does need reworked and repaired

If there is 100% proof someone intentionally killed ,raped, molested someone else they should get the rope, needle, bullet with in the next bussiness week

I am against the death penalty as it currently stands because it is ineffectual. There is far too long between sentencing and carrying out the sentence. There should be one appeal, tops, then carry out the sentence. Is there a possibility of an innocent person being executed? Absolutely, but is a quick death truly worse than a lifetime of being imprisoned for something you didn't do?

I actually kind of like the suggestion of boot camps. Prison should NOT be enjoyable in any way. A first time offender should be made so uncomfortable that he never wants to go back. And then when that first time offender gets out there should be help available to get him back in the workforce. I know more than one person who honestly tried to make it but just couldn't find work and slid back into criminal activity (usually selling drugs) just to survive.

Its only ineffectual if it isnt carried out right away. once the needle goes in and the plunger is pushed it seems to work just fine.

So this criminal ignored public school, or just quit, refused to get a real job or further himself in anyway other than say dealing poison to kids, and we, society should make sure he gets to catch up through some sort of entitlement program?

Right.

I say we put them to work picking tomato's for a dollar a day and send the illegals back to mexico.

Death to the most violent/sick in the head, and chain gang work for the rest so they realize how bad it sucks.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Not sure why you are getting the flack.

I don't have a problem with the death penalty. I think Texas kills more of em than anyone, last I knew. The problem I do have.....is that the convicted can use so many different legal tactics, and delay his ruination as long as 15-20 years is some cases.
All the while he enjoys breathing air....something he has long deprived his victim/s of, and soforth. It's not right. If after due process they are found guilty.....they should be allowed at most maybe, one appeal....not several. Then put to "sleep."

there are crimnes of violence..yes... but it does not matter to me what that crime is...if it involves rape, pedophilia, murder or any violent crime that takes a life or damamges a life with intent to inflict serious bodily injury... hence rape...etc.

There should be no compassion for them at all in my book.... just kill em and stop making excuses for their behavior. A rabid dog or skunk cannot be cured and neither can these types of criminals... So rather than waste money on a lost cause... just get rid of them and send them onto hell or where ever...

Now this might tick you off... for example.... we all know drunk driving is a crime.... now I am of the frame of mind that if you go get drunk and intentionally drive...knowing the laws before hand...and you go out and kill someone then you get executed... My reason for that is simple... you know the law...and you just do not care. The age old excuse of saying I did not know I was that drunk.... does not set with me...

I also have little to NO compassion on the criminal element.... literally none at all...you know the laws and yet you do crimes anyways... warrants little to no comapassion from me.... it simply means that you just do not care..

You eliminate crime by dealing with it in a harsh and deadly manner.... no games. . no excuses, and no pardons...

NON violent crimes... depending upon what it is ... a long and lengthly prison term with no parole and no pardons..... no exceptions...

And you does not mean you specifically...

Ive always wondered about people who actually worry about convicts rights

They were found guity they dont deserve any special treatments and special favors they dont deserve ANYTHING

They know they are commiting a crime Violent or not
This is what ive never understood
So many actually feel bad for this scum

Do i want them to die No not really
Do i want to pay for their housing and care NO
Would I ever want to see them out on the streets again HELL NO

Its pretty freaking sick pull up sex crimes website
check out the schools and parks and your neighborhood Its freaking unreal

I will add this to your list as well,

do I want them tortured? NO.

If I thought there was a realistic way of correcting whatever screwed them up in the first place then I would be all for it. But there isn't.

The problem is, if they are still breathing then there is a chance they could be released again. That is the unacceptable part here.

If they are dead and gone then that will never happen.

If you have read anything i have written in this post You would clearly see That isnt what i think

The system is screwed up big time
But I will never change my view on the death penalty

Killers , Rapists, Molestors deserve the rope, needle, bullet

Most criminals get out comit crimes again and go back inside
I dont think you can change a hardened criminal

Back in the late 1970's I went to college with as guy from Iran. That was when we were still friends (Iran and the US) We got into a discussion on the Death Penalty. He said: "The death penalty doesn't work in my country either. We still have 5-6 murders a year. It stops nothing" He couldn't believe it when I told him that was a good Saturday night in Los Angeles.

Me personally, I say do away with the electric chair, get an electric couch.
