It never ceases to amaze me when people (not the OP) will complain about/worry about China as an enemy, complain about jobs getting outsourced overseas, complain about a lack of American manufacturing, etc...then happily send money to companies over there that send a large portion of their profits to the PLA. Profits made almost completely from stolen American Intellectual Property.

because there is NO REASON something similar and equal should cost 5 times as much, just because it comes from 'a trusted name.' 5 Yeah sure, I'd rather buy American made, but when I can get 95% of the quality for 20% of the price, I'm GOING to buy it. Not every one has thousands in expendable income to waste on products just to make themselves feel good and fall asleep with grin on their face. Right now I have to think if I really want that $7 coffee or not.

I'd rather shop at a physical store for things like car parts...but when the exact same part can be ordered off Rock or amazon, WITH shipping for less than the store.....well guess what I'm gonna do.

Not to mention half the products 'made by a trusted brand' are made in china anyway, just maybe to a higher quality control. I've seen people beat their chest about snap on tools.....yet are utterly ignorant of the fact that the vast majority of snap on tools made in the last 10yrs were made in china. The daytona jack from harbor freight? That IS a snap on jack, the EXACT SAME THING, MADE IN THE SAME FACTORY IN CHINA. So much so that snap on lost a lawsuit when they tried to sue HF. The only difference was the snap on jack was 'assembled' in the US, while the HF was assembled in china. Snap on was about 500.....HF, 180.

If I had elon musk FU money, sure, I'd buy all the name brand 'hopefully' US made stuff I can find. But until then, if I can save a dime and get near enough the same quality for what I need, I, and the vast majority of people who work for a living, are going to save that dime.

I just love the irony of China selling gun products to US citizens...when they cannot own firearms themselves.

I do not trust Chinese anything... If it's proven to be durable and not be a ripoff I might be interested. If they have strict quality control measures and the supplier has dictated what needs to go into the product it turns out good most of the time. The Chinese are masters at cloning something to look great but is made with the absolutely cheapest materials available and is guaranteed to fall apart in short order. It's in their culture that if they can get one over on you it's your fault and not theirs. They care nothing about you or the product you get as long as they can package it up nicely and get you to purchase it.

Yeah, it seems the very same people that bemoan low wages and vilify American factories, have been all in favor of us giving the CCP all of our manufacturing.

The paradigm shift it would take to change things would be painful for a lot of people, when the prices on household goods would raise significantly, but in the long run, we'd see better paying manufacturing jobs. But I'm not hopeful the younger folks would want to through the initial pain.

I’m not even confident they’d do a better job than some foreigner.

The last three Ram trucks I’ve purchased were made in Mexico, in a factory that has been recognized for its quality. I remember watching a news story several years ago that showed Chrysler assembly line employees in the US smoking dope and drinking beer on their lunch breaks.

I’m not trolling here, I just don’t thing the US has the market cornered on anything, people have gotten too comfortable getting something for nothing…. YMMV

I TRY to avoid anything made in China, yes its hard to do. All our tools are Proto, Craftsman, Williams all made in the USA.
We have 4 huge tool boxes full of them, they were bought many years ago, when things were affordable in this great country.
We always buy American, taiwan, or japanese quality made items before we bow to the CCP...

Yeah I bought several extra sets of Craftsman tool sets on sale, when I heard they were going to start making most of them in China. I've never needed them since they are good quality, so time to gift or sell.
