What happened in Paris was bad, no doubt. What are the French gonna do about it? I know they have presence in Syria but I thought that was to fight against the Syrian regime. Are they gonna allocate resources to fight ISIS/terrorist or just rely on the USA to send our boys and girls in harms way for some other country so they can sit back a critisize us?

Some of the terrorists in the recent Paris attack, were French. radical Muslims.

"9/11" happened with no previous warning. It was coordinated - it was swift - and it was effective. Minimal manpower and minimal effort for significant damage.

The recent Paris attack. Same thing. No indication of an attack - multiple attacks - confused public as well as Law Enforment and Security not knowing which way to go.....based on multiple attacks at differnet locations.

Respond to multiple attacks - PLUS.....PLUS send Law Enforcement to vital and important areas to prevent an attack or damage. The terrorists spread out the resources and security. That is the physical damage, the psychological damage is a hundred time more tremoundous.

The bad guys, like "9/11" were already in the city, blended in with the French population, studied and researched ; and then attacked.

I am for Media blackouts though - in the sense their should not be live video of terrorist acts/scenes for all the bad guys around the world to smile at. As preppers, we should prepare for nothing short of all out firefights in the streets. That's what it means to be prepared, we must be ready for ANYTHING. Honestly, the attacks are probably going to happen in tiny pockets of America as things progress. There may be some in larger cities in the short term.

There's a few dams here in S. Carolina that anybody can get access to and someone could very easily destroy if they truly wanted to, causing 10s of thousands to die within minutes.

For now, it's terror by random shootings and bombings...As things progress and their power grows if it's unchallenged, they'll start targeting basic infrastructure. Destroying dams, taking out bridges, crippling the power grid.

Fortunately I don't spend much time in public places anyway (2 small children are good at ensuring that you don't spend time at concerts and sports games, or even spend much time at a restaurant), and I don't think where I live is on any ISIS lists of desirable places to attack. High per capita gun ownership and nothing here that on a national level anyone really likes or cares about. Trying to do anything large scale would meet heavy resistance from about 10% of the population that have a CCW permit. Now, there is a chance of a violent confrontation or even a small chance of a homegrown trying to do a small improvised attack, and for that I've got my CCW, and usually there's at least 2 CCW holders in the room anywhere I do go.

Not that I don't keep a vest and rifle in the trunk, but that's for different threats and I don't think there would be anything large enough here terrorism-wise that I'd have an opportunity to use them.
