Bass Pro Shops opened a new store in Tacoma WA on 22OCT14 1830.

I arrived today sometime after noon. The place was more crowded then I expected, but I have never before gone to a new place in Tacoma for comparison.

The only .22lr ammo they had was Federal AutoMatch Target Ammunition 22 Long Rifle 40 Grain Lead Round Nose Box of 325.

Price $19.99 I think (I didn't pay attention to the final cent). Limit one box per customer of course.

I'd have to say that at a least 60% of the people that were in the gun section ended up carrying around a box. I should have counted the number of boxes that were there when arrived but I got lazy and wasn't going to pay that price. If I had to guesstimate from memory, I'd say there was maybe ~50 boxes.

I guess maybe an hour passed and the table was empty.

Looks to me like people are simply buying ALL of it. I did not grab a box, I think it was about $4 over priced, and I already have plenty of .22lr.

The problem with todays prices for 22LR is I can't remember what the going price was before the 2012 scare. Been buying 22 for 5-6 cents a round via Walmart, so your price of around $19.99 is about what I paid for it at Walmart earlier this week. The cheapest I've ever gotten it was 1 box via Gander Mountain at 4 cents a round, with a 1 box limit, plus shipping. Wouldn't of bought it but also ended up getting some other stuff that justified buying it.

I refuse to pay more than 6 cents a round for it, but when it comes to 22 magnum, feel like crying as I just bought a 50 round box at $13.99 per box, but it's so damn rare to find any, I bought 6 boxes at Cabela's any way.

Thought that by this time in 2013, the ammo shortage would be over, including 22. Seems all ammo is dropping in price and available basically everywhere.....except 22. One guy was telling me he thought it wouldn't be readily available until some time late 2015, maybe even 2016.

Sandy Hook was 2-years ago. The prices arent likely to go back to pre-2012 prices for lots of reasons. Inflation is one of them. Another is that ammo suppliers now know what we will pay. You may find a decent cost from time to time but I dont think I'll ever be able to buy Federal 550 count bulk packs for $13.47 at Wal-Mart. Thats the amount on the side of the 2 cases that I bought there in 2009
