What is the best way to syphon gas from a car?

Harbor freight sells 2 Syphoning kits.....anyone have experience using these?

What is the best way to get around anti Syphoning gas tanks?

Thanks

Use a sharpened pick like a seal or oring or cup remover with a handle or a screwdriver or a screwdriver ground down to a sharp point.
Ive done it before and depending on the tank and what its made out of and thickness of material with a good committed stab you can punch right through, otherwise place the poiny on the tip and grab a rock, log or hammer and use it as a punch to poke a hole in it.

As far as sparks, ive never had any issues and never heard of any.
junkyards punch holes in tanks all the time to drain them of their contents and they dont have any issues

You can also try cutting the fuel line with the tank vented.
There are usually more than one line, a supply and return and vent going to the charc canister.
Older cars just cut the line and let it drain, this works on tanks with external pumps and bottom feed tanks.
Newer cars with in the tank pumps may or may not work depending on where the feed lines are run for the fuel.

one way i did it when i lived in florida and in the hurricanes hit when we ran out of fuel for the genset and did not want to destroy the car i used a hose from a set of a/c charge gauges and hooked it up to the fuel pressure port on the fuel rail jumped the fuel pump relay out and pump out the tank that got us by for a few days untill there was a few gas stations open for fuel

During hurricane hike I used a syphone kit that you can buy at walmart. I got mine for work. You'd end up bending the disk which is suppost to be a anti-syphone divice, but it doesn't really work. I sucked every drop outta my trucks tank and it helped keep my generator running during the 2 month power outtage.

Don't punch a hole in the tank. I think those saying that haven't actually done it before. Most gas tanks have a vynal cover that isn't easy to break through. That seems like a huge waste unless you are at the most absolute desperation to get it.

Iirc its black abs plastic. It is hard to punch through but by no means impossible. This is where having a sharp hardened steel or stainless pick is handy. A standard screwdriver will be very difficult without alot of effort and cussing.
Older cars had less protection for the tank and are easier to punch through.

Of course siphoning is the more efficient way to do it to capture the most gas possible but if **** goes down, you need gas quick, and your siphon isnt there or isnt working your next best bet is to cut the main line on external pump tanks as mentioned above (and some internally mounted tanks), or punch a hole.

I recommend a trip to your local junk yard. Walk around and look under some of the cars there. Get an idea for the fuel system and its access points for getting fuel. Also practice punching or attempting to punch holes in a variety of tanks,, as they are already rendered useless when they are admitted to the yard.

Napa, Snap-on and Mac etc sell a muffler punch that works great on tanks and it makse a nice 3 or 4 side + shaped hole that is awesome for draining gas quickly and with out making lots of noise hammering, one hit and your done! As far as the siphoning by mouth there is a H2O hose that has an anti-drainback valve that makes it very simple and you can use it much like setting siphon tubes for irrigation and no lips near the gas or risk of gas in mouth. :( yuk
