I'm curious to know if anyone has tested the shelf life of store-bought bacon if thrown into a bag to go on an extended hike, or if a bug-out situation became reality? Also, in the same realm, salt pork and dry cured bacon as well.
I've never tried the pre-cooked bacon, but it's supposed to be shelf stable for quite a while, at least until opened. And if you're using it for a hiking trip or what not, I'd think it might be the way to go.
I doubt I'd make it a mile down the trail before I devoured the whole package though:
