This may be a dumb question, but I'm just wondering if home-cured bacon is still bad for you or if it's just the commercially prepared stuff? My sister only buys "natural" bacon which doesn't have all the bad stuff in it (supposedly) so I'm now wondering if there's a way to still have my bacon...
I quite possibly had the food of God a few weeks back.
My grandmother turned 100 and the family had a nice party for her, with some great food. My aunt made some regular almond and pecan crusted cheese balls. AND a BACON crusted one! I am fairly sure it IS the food of God!!
Anyhow, I got...
I've made references to this during my time here on the boards, and can't believe I have never posted a recipe.
This has been a camp favorite with Scouts and Parents alike and whether or not I go up on a trip, folks continue to ask for the recipe.
A generous hat tip to author Diane Mott...
i just read about a tick whose bite can make you allergic to meat!
to be fair birds and fish are still ok but that evil little bastard can make you unable to eat bacon, steak, or bacon wrapped steak!
KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!
I'm curious to know if anyone has tested the shelf life of store-bought bacon if thrown into a bag to go on an extended hike, or if a bug-out situation became reality? Also, in the same realm, salt pork and dry cured bacon as well.
MRE Depot is having a sale on recently restocked items like long term shelf stable coffee beans and BAKON! (Yoder's)
With the coupon code, my case of BAKON! was less than $100. (Tactical BAKON!)

so in the OPAW when they ask you "where's the meat" in Bartertown, you can give them a wicked grin and say "right here!"
of course FX will probably get us all shot by holding himself when he says it...
Does anyone know if Bacon Bars are still made and if so where to get them?
The one I used to get were about the size of a Chunky brand candy bar and came in a silver pack. When I asked about them at my local REI recently they looked at me like I was a loon.
Someone on another forum I post at put the link up for canned bacon, they said it hasnt been sold in the US for quite some time. If this has already been posted, sorry!
