I 've been researching bug out locations near Los Angeles in the event of a SHTF situation. So far I have only located one in Azusa canyons called Morris Dam. Plenty of water . Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd go here: http://www.freemaptools.com/radius-around-point.htm

Draw a 300 - 400 mile radius around the center of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, and make sure whatever BOL you decide on is on the outside of it... because in a SHTF event... thats 12 Million people trying to go somewhere.... all at the same time...

Honestly the best thing would be to not live there at all... or be VERY good (or lucky) at anticipating an event and leave early enough to not get stuck in the middle of everyone else doing the same...

From my perspective, there isn't any. Move east, n'east, s'east my son. I agree with the 400 mile radius, you gotta get out of the whole area and, by the way, please don't ever tell anyone where you are planning to go, unless you are in my area then post it and don't take any weapons, just plenty of good stuff - see ya. Just kidding, but hope you see the point.

I suggest moving out of Los Angeles. You are in the mild of a major chaotic disaster waiting to happen. My aunt live in Hawthorne, Uncle with his wife and my cousins live in Inglewood. Every time I visit I think what if SHTF while I was here and the only thing that comes to my mind is instant war zone of martial law declared. Not too mention you would likely have to walk out of the city due to the streets being jammed with traffic and no gas at the gas stations due to the instant panic that will happen.
