backscatter is x-rays, if anyone takes an x-ray of you without consent, its lawsuit time baby. 100x more so for pregnant ladies and infants.

 

I wonder how much radiation this thing really gives off, i doubt its 15 mins. on a planes worth. So we have this rolling privacy violation going up and down the street, violating the 4th amendment and spouting off enough radiation to give everyone an F'n tumor. Whats the hell were these people thinking, oh thats right, they dont.

 

And people think Im crazy for living over 15 miles from the closest small town. Ya right.

 

Thats ridiculous, more eveidence of the governments ludicrous power.

 

I am fascinated by the technology, and can see a military application, yet the potential for something like that to be abused is tremendous.
It's getting pretty bad when you are sitting on the throne thinking your alone and a white cube van drives by...

Heck Yeah! something?! I don't know! This kind of technology is so incredibly Orwellian, that it just blows my mind...

 

Just another way to protect us or that will be the story we aren't spying on you we are protecting you from terrorist when the plane fact is we need to be protected from our gobberment

 

This just pi$$es me off. Next they'll be scanning houses. How about homeless sleeping in their cars and their possessions trying to get back on their feet, no privacy at all. If this is change then I dont want it! Where's the aclu and all the other organisations to fight this abuse of privacy? States?

 

Time to hit the "medical supply" website. I can "insulate" my car with a bunch of those lead shields that they use in the x-ray rooms! Like dynomat only heavier!. Or maybe just the trunk? Then they won't notice. And I hate to break it to you Savage1, but if they can see right through your "Dodge Dakota", then they can see in your house too.

 

Same as Airport body scanners, yet in a van, dirving up and down the street scanning.

It is a sales pitch video..yet creepy, in a big brothers invading your privacy in a new way, kind of creepy...maybe I'm over reacting...

To be able to see through substantially thick metal the X rays must be quite strong - one wonders how many ordinary citizens will fall to cancers and other health problems in future if this is to be regularly deployed..

 

I had a job some years ago doing cargo inspections in a VACIS truck. The truck used gamma rays instead of xrays, and it was supposed to be safer. The pictures they took were really amazing. You could see every component of the vehicles engines, the frame, everything. If it is being used to scan vehicles enetering onto a military base or something like that, I have no problem with it, but random checkpoints on public roads? No thanks.

 

It's a catch 22...If you do something to shield or block the scan, you just gave them probable cause to do a physical search. It's diabolical...
