We stopped at Costco in Fresno, CA yesterday and saw the survival pack to support a family of 4 for one year on sale for $3950.00. There must be a market for it if Costco puts it on the shelf...

 

So many preppers shop at those big box stores its not a surprise.

 

I wish my local Sam's had that stuff. I'd like to be able to pick up a few #10 cans here and there to replace cans I've used up. It's not cost effective to mail order in small quantities like that.

I was also at Sam's a few days ago and they didn't have the books. Or I may have overlooked them. I was in a bit of a rush at the time and I'm one of those "if it had been a snake, it would have bitten me" type people anyway.

 

We're in the same boat -- nothing in the stores here food wise (however, I did see the books he spoke of).

I checked out the Auguson Farms stuff Sam's offers online. The 1-year for 4 people (average calories 1340) came out to $750 apiece, which I didn't think was too awful. I did the math and I can't buy it that cheaply even at the new little preparedness store that opened in this area. While there may be things in the package buy that I wouldn't necessarily order individually, it still works out to a pretty good deal.

HD Supply is selling 72-hour survival kits as well. The have individual and 3 Person ones. The also have haz-mat suits and n95 full-face respirators

Sam's online has quite a selection of preparedness foods. I think Auguson Farms is their primary brand. We've purchased some as they carry gluten-free items and my wife has a gluten sensitivity.

For those who are members of Costco, you may or may not be interested to know that Costco is very anti-Second Amendment.

 

I have both of those books. Fun read, some of the reccommendations in the books are a little out-dated. I bought mine from costco

 

I bought three of the "Wisdom" books and really enjoy all of them!

 

Check Amazon . com for the books. I looked and there are some for $9 to your door.

 

I noticed the same thing at CVS. About two weeks ago they started to sell 2-5 day survival packs.

 

Well of course they are. There marketing department smells a new way to make a dime. Honestly, don't think for a moment , they endorse prepping . With Corporate America, it's ALWAYS about the bottom line...money. TP

 

If you want to see an item at Sam's, stop by the office and tell them, better yet fill out a comment card. If they see enough interest, they will order if it can be had from their regional warehouse. The are using an inventory system now that tracks everything and if an item stays at the bottom of the list too long, poof, it's gone.

 

I purchased a 45lb tub of wheat berries from Costco.com for $36.99. That price included shipping and handling. The product was from Auguson Farms. The storage life is 30 years unopened. Also purchased a 12lb (1 gallon) tub of clover honey from the same source.
