Repelling Flies

This is a repost since I posted it as an answer in the "files" thread.

There are stories of repelling flies by putting pennies into a ziplock plastic bag, filling it with water and hanging it in a area where you want to repel flies. You don't need the pennies, the water alone will do the job..flies have many eyes and the way the sun reflects through the baggie and water is a prismatic effect on the fly confusing it directly with it's directional values of the sun..which is the way thier gps works..they tend to stay away from it... it also works with wasps.:thumb:

The first time I heard that I didn't believe it. Then at a Veteran's Day event at the VFW they hung baggies of water by all the open doors and the window to the concession area where they were cooking burgers. I can't say it kept every fly out, there was one or two, but there normally would have been hundreds. I still can't quite believe it, but it seems to work.

The baggie thing works great!
Also put some liquid soap in 2 liters of coke and spray it on the grass around your picinic. Flies are attracted to the coke and the soap keeps them from flying.
