Came across this clip from ABC's What Would You Do...and in light of the disheartening headlines lately about the knockout game, South African racism against whites, and other racial disharmony...I hope this video provides an ounce of hope in a world where it seems so little resides.

If we do not get it together and realize ----,putting race and religion aside,,completely,, , developing a conviction, a belief system, deep inside ourselves --- that we are all Americans and that is all that matters,,
something like the Bosnian tragedy and horror could happen here, especially if Rule of Law became weakened by any untoward event

Here is what happened there, when people felt estranged from sharing one purpose and participating in that purpose
http://www.bostonreview.net/world/bosnia-and-syria-intervention-then-and-now

150,000 or so killed,, 50000 or so raped... by their former fellow citizens and neighbors,,, close neighbors,, in one small country , smaller than our New England

This clip is from the ABC show What Would You Do? which was broadcasted end of last week .... you need to watch the entire episode to get the FULL picture .... they usually run these Candid Camera type undercovers for days .... in perspective, for these few blacks that were supportive of the mixed relationship ..... dozens upon dozens didn't raise the slightest rankle ....

same show .... young white barber trying to get even one black customer while working in a Harlem (??) all black barbershop .... they had an even harder time finding that required supportive clip

if you buy into the supposed "goodwill" pictured in this TV show .... you need to believe Obammy isn't intentionally widening the racial breach in the US ..... that makes you a very gullible individual

Illini Warrior, I happily buy into a few people standing up for their fellow human beings proudly and publicly. In a world of so much hate and suspicion, it warms my heart to see people love one another (even if only a few like stated earlier).

To me, this has nothing to do with Obama, and everything to do with a few precious souls reaching out to their fellow human beings in love and reconciliation! What would you do...not what did someone else do or what did Obama do! I will side with gullible righteousness over critical skepticism everyday. I am thankful that these souls stood up for what's right!

one person out of a 100+ (eazily 200) ...

and ABC plays it off as some kind of heartwarming Walton's moment .... sorry, but just more of the media strumming the Obammy agenda .... exactly like the Knock Out game not being racial attacks .... just like Trayvon Revenge attacks having nothing to do with race ...

keep the ****** sheeple stupid, passive and non-demanding as long as possible ..... nothing new .... the Jews bought into the play in the 1930s

gullible and naive never changes

There are far more people who stand up for others regardless of race than do not. We see the exceptions on the news and the propaganda from the race mongers/hustlers/liberals/politicians that profit from division. Ask a solder on the battlefield if he or she thinks for a moment about pulling a fallen comrade out of the battle or sacrificing himself for his or her buddies if their race matters at the time. We all bleed red and we all deserve to be here as much as anybody. That is what makes America great --- certainly not our politicians or floundering government. Americans are fundamentally good and generous people regardless of race or any other factor and they will stand up and defend those who are in need or oppressed. The cemeteries of the world give grim testament to that.

Obama has done more to damage race relations in this country than any other President in recent history.
He had the opportunity to put away the race card and lead by example but instead he has repeatedly played it.

There is a big double standard in this country and it's political correctness is simply harming minorities (ie: out of wedlock births) even more.

What gets me is when people tell me white people and black people need to reconcile - so wrong on so many levels.

1. White people and black people, well, they are just people to me.
2. I do not need to reconcile with anyone, as I do not have problem with them - I have never enslaved anyone, never bought anyone and never flogged anyone to force them to work for me. Same as most if not all.
3. Most, if not all, have not been enslaved, bought, sold or flogged to be forced to work.

My ancestors, at points in the past have been enslaved and subjugated, both by other nations and races and their own government and rulers. I do not hold any animosity towards these peoples or nations, or dwell on governments an rulers of the past.

I am me, and I can do what I can to make my life, the life of those in my family and the lives of those around me better. Automatically disliking people because of how they look does not make anything better.

People need to stop holding on to stuff that gives them some victim identity, be that what happened to their ancestors or some crazy guilt at what their ancestors did. Understand that some suffered, understand that some did things you cannot understand. Also understand that their is nothing that you can do about the past - to expect apologies and a free ride is childish and to offer them is condescending.

Borsch Dorks Gorge, thank you for your reply. I believe the points you made about the futility of the victim identity for ills of the past were addressed in the clip. Great point.

My usage of the word "reconciliation" perhaps can be substituted with many other words. The spirit in which I posted this, was to show that there is still much work left to be done as it relates to race relations in our country. This thread has driven home that point. Above all, it is my deepest hope that those who are currently hurting would see this clip, and take heart that there are people who will stand up against wrong.

In this season of hope, that is my desire.

Well, I don't want to interrupt your hopeful thread, with my negativity, which we don't need :D:, but race division is just the tip of the iceberg. We clearly see TPTB dividing us purposefully along race, gender, sexual orientation, party, religion, income, geographical location, legal status, ad infinitum. It is how they get power and we lose freedom.

But, I love to see when people are kind and helpful (without the force of violence) to each other on a voluntary basis. I truly believe that if we were to get back to 'natural rights', we would see even more kindness towards our fellow man regardless of status.

.gov fuels this division we see.

But I like your hopeful thread.

You are welcome to speak as you please Mogli... I saw what you did to anyone who got in your way on your voting thread, so I might not be smart but I sure as hell ain't stupid lol!

Seriously though, I understand some's skepticism and jadedness with issues like these. That's the point though. When we stop speaking out and standing up altogether, then it truly is over. Right now there still exists an ember of hope.

I didn't watch the clip. But I think what it does is set up a dichotomy that presupposes an anticipated response. The answer to some questions are designed to be a "damned if you do damned if you don't" scenario.

I don't follow my BF or hubby to the barbershop and he doesn't follow me to my hairdresser's.

So I agree with many that says this is a set up to divide people.

Katielyn, everything about it was a setup. It was a tv show designed to sensationalize for viewers and ad dollars.

However, what I believe not to be a setup was the genuine response of the few highlighted souls who stood up when they encountered hate.

As for me, that clip does not provoke me to divide. On the contrary. I am reminded of just how beautiful it is to show a perfect stranger kindness and friendship.

Ok, I have to put my two cents in a bit with one of the tales I can freely tell regarding race. I am mixed breed, a hybrid of sorts, but I am covered in what many consider very racists tattoos. Leaning towards my white side heavily.

So I am in the middle of a ghetto, a black ghetto, wife beater on, alone, at gas station late at night. I am lost and need to find a Auto Part place. I dont know where to start so I make it a point to walk up to the dirtiest black guy with the largest girlfriend I can find and ask him for direction to a Auto Part store. Why? Why the hell not ?

So he 1st warned me that I should watch my peckerwood ass out in these parts, him and his girl then go into detail to tell me how to get to a store, lol, while carrying on a conversation between the two of them at the same time about a hair place and BBQ Shack in the same area. When I talked to them it was as though I was talking to myself. We must have chatted for about 15 minutes. The entire gas station staring at us, homeboy even watched my truck for me when I went inside to pay for my gas. They then made sure I knew exactly where the store was, repeated the directions exchanged a solid handshake without any tension what so ever and away I went. Followed his direction and ended up at AutoZone, got what I needed and continued on my walk about.

Good Times, see folks, sometimes people are like mirrors and what a person often sees is merely a reflection of themselves.

Nearly all animal and bird species and even fish are territorial, some are territorial in groups, animals like humans and apes are, its part of the way we evolved .
You have extended family groups they compete with other extended family groups we call tribes, this competition is deadly, and you have altruism but its normally limited to your kin .
So to a degree racism is a part of nature and evolution, normally the tribe whose members put other tribes interests first is doomed.

I think this is a hurdle that any anti racist comes up against humans are naturally tribal they operate better in more monocultures they are more likely to have better run societys.

" More ethnically homogeneous nations are better able to build public goods, are more democratic, less corrupt, have higher productivity and less inequality, are more trusting and care more for the disadvantaged, develop social and economic capital faster, have lower crime rates, are more resistant to external shocks, and are better global citizens, for example by giving more foreign aid. Moreover, they are less prone to civil war, the greatest source of violent death in the twentieth century.."

personally I'm pretty sure america will break up ethnically much in the way of the book civil war 2 by thomas chittum. When that happens I'm also sure most of the people now banging the drum for multi-ethnic multi-cultural states will be saying well we knew it would come to this all the signs were there .

its a bit like getting a puppy and being suprised when the puppy barks when strangers come to the door, you dont have to teach the puppy he just does it .
And you can whomp the puppy with a rolled up newspaper or guilt trip it, and that may work but often times that puppys nature will out .

Now that doesnt mean I think you should oppress people, it means I think you have a real job on, which you in the end you may well lose

I can only say jonny2mad, I hope you are wrong.

And personally, I'm not so sure what an ethnic conflict would mean anymore. Am I supposed to suddenly be against my family members and friends of different colors? How would one even define that? Perhaps there are other allegiances stronger than race... Man is more than just base beast using your animal analogies. He is also conscious thought.

"Man is made or unmade by himself; in the armory of thought he forges the weapons by which he destroys himself; he also fashions the tools with which he builds for himself heavenly mansions of joy and strength and peace. By the right choice and true application of thought, man ascends to the Divine Perfection; by the abuse and wrong application of thought, he descends below the level of the beast. Between these two extremes are all the grades of character, and man is their maker and master." - James Allen

Throughout history there have always been people willing to die for others...even strangers. There are some things far worse than death to me, and certainly hating people and deciding to war with them based on something as arbitrary as skin tone is one of them. Skirmishes may rise up from time to time, but so do great people. For as much evil exists in the hearts of men, there is also righteousness. That is the real divide.

I hope I'm wrong so does thomas chittum, I saw a interview the guy gave and he said he no longer has a gun, and just keeps a machete in case of burglers hes a ex mercenary and has no intention of fighting anyone if such a thing happens .

I think things like the former yugoslavia just happen, and when your in it your largely just dragged along by events. My dad was in india during partition and you just have a series of atrocitys each one would wind up the other side and they would take revenge and people divided this speeded up when india and pakistan became seperate countrys .

And you had trains going in either direction and they would kill everyone on the train chop them to pieces, my dad was in a sort of shore patrol and they were ordered not to get involved only to protect westerners or non indians really .

I'm not sure how safe it would be not belonging to one group or another .

And this can happen really fast weeks or even days, its grim and nothing anyone with any sense would want to happen

The issue in the video does not seem to be straightforward racism, but rather a black woman's objection to the phenomenon of what seems to be the desire on the part of some to breed away their own blackness or to regard a white woman as a status symbol. I'm not black, but I understand how she feels. Also, that guy was flirting with her, and he had a girlfriend. No wonder she was annoyed. Interracial relationships dilute the races. If you think that is a good thing, then support them. But it is not a thing that, ultimately, will promote diversity; it will ultimately cause homogeneity.

#63 ·
Not likely to happen in my opinion. There are millions upon millions of people who choose to procreate with others of the same skin color and millions upon millions for whom that is not a concern. Yet even if it did, the issue at hand for me is whether or not it is right to condemn someone for that choice, either way.

I fundamentally believe that denying someone their choice of whom to love is wrong.

Now in regards to racial status symbols and the marketing of sexual images (which borders on brainwashing btw)...undoubtedly there are those who fall into that thinking. As misguided as they may be in choosing to love someone based on sexual stereotypes or perceived status, that is still their choice. They will find soon enough that status and/or approval does not committed love make.

Tmapool has my deepest respects, and I hold his opinion in high regard. I am still a constantly changing yet stubborn piece of human clay...and there is much for me to learn from many of you.

I am thankful to listen to and take to heart the life experiences of people like you tmapool and Tenfeathers. It is a joy to encounter wise and kind men like you two, and I don't take it for granted. Thank you sincerely. My heart is touched.

At first, watching that video, one thinks 'now that's just a beautiful thing', but then one wonders; this was the same media that first didn't report, then under reported the knockout game, then tried to tell us it was a myth.

Brothers and sisters, we have to keep the flame alive. How, I don't know exactly, but we can't succumb to the societal ruin we seem be getting funneled to.
