SPAM is the "other other white meat"

most likely the can wasn't sealed properly. I have opened cans of things before that just were not right. Just don't eat it!

 

Was it the turkey variety? That is a bit different in appearance. None-the-less, if something looks suspicious be safe and not sorry. I stock the Spam Lite variety - higher protein and doesn't cause so much indigestion in my overused tummy. By the way, if you live near a Dollar General store you can often get a real bargain on Spam. They often give a five dollar off coupon for a $25 purchase. When they have Spam reduced to $2.25 and you use the five dollar off coupon it really saves money.

Ever had a Redneck Reuben? That's a Reuben sandwich made with Spam. For really classy hors deurves (crap - who can spell that) -party snacks then - use the little coctail rye bread slices for your Redneck Reuben.

 

Twinkies and Spam? Ugh, it just doesn't get any worse than that! LOL

We have "Klik" in Canada. My dad (God rest his soul) made fried Klik sandwiches with mustard. Mmmmmmm, I'll have to eat that next time I'm in the house alone. :thumb:

 

Higher fat content and/or potato starch (used as the binding agent). Probably nothing to worry about. IF Spam ever goes bad, it will smell bad.

 

Well how bout spam A'la king or chicken fried spam or spam quiche or spam under glass???

We all love SPAM at our house, but my Dad is 84 yr. old and being a depression baby who ate a ton of it as a child will no longer eat spam, we on the other hand that know hunger is a powerful motivator and believe he shouldn't talk with his full in a post SHTF world.

 

We actually made some pretty tasty spicy spampenadas -- spam, onions and spicy chilis with sauce mornay inside of puff pastry. Nom nom nom.

Actually the spam and eggs was one of the most eaten meals when I was in tech school, also the Mac -n- cheese -n- spam. Cheap meals:thumb:

I've read about an old English favorite for spam. Battered and fried. Sounds great - gonna look it up and try it.

PS - O/P -- there's no such thing as bad Spam --- that green fuzzy stuff that grows on it -- Penicillin - very healthy --

 

Pan fried Spam is good in about anything, better yet add a bit of bacon grease to the pan before you fry the Spam.:thumb:

And Spam can be roasted like a hot dog over the coals of a fire if you slice it thick. Gives it a hint of smokyness, crusty goodness ham and pork shoulders. Nearly the perfect camp meat not counting a cast iron skillet over the coals Ribeye.

 

OMG ... measuring snow drifts with Spam!! That is some serious Get-R-Done kinda thinking right there. Plus, after shoveling all that snow and knowing you got fried Spam in the house is one of life's simple pleasures.
