Another man opposed to Putin is executed at 11:15 while walking in Moscow with a woman, a car pulls up to them and shoots multiple rounds striking and killing Boris Nemtsov. He was about to lead an opposition rally in Moscow opposing Putin's rule. Conveniently Putin no longer has to worry about this. The people on here that claim Putin is a good leader need to get their head examined. I also think it's safe to say Putin isn't going any where.

When I say another man, I am referring to the defected spy that was fed a high dose of radioactive soup. On his death bed he claimed Putin was responsible.

I hope he's wrong because Hitler got himself destroyed. Hitler had no reason to attack Russia. They had a treaty. Putin is too smart for that. He won't make major military mistakes if there is a war.

I had something different in mind when I first saw the title to this thread. Just ate at Taco Bell and putin like a choo choo train.

My only other relative comment is that nugget of truth offered up by leftist Franklin D. Roosevelt who stated: "In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way."

The weird thing is, if somebody would ask me about Nemtsov (given I am not closely following Russian politics), I would say he is a "has been", and not a threat or anything for anyone.
I actually met him here in the US, lets say 10 years ago at the Dulles airport (he helped my in-law with translation at the customs, they came on the same flight, I think) and he seemed like a nice guy.

Isn't this the man that recently refused to be on house arrest? The article said he had a protest planned soon. Maybe Putin wanted to send a message to his opposition.

Well of all the countries in the world, A Putin led Russia would be the very last to be our ally. Not because Americans hate Russians or visa versa. The leaders have always hated each other. Even during World War 2 they didn't really like each other. And Putin was raised and indoctrinated to specifically hate the US. And believe me, he does. We were friends last with Russia in 1870.

I don't know about nations being "friends", but the US and Russia have been working very closely together for more than 20 years now on issues of mutual interest. Just one project has spent more than $135 million on upgrading one type of security in Russia, and there are many, many projects. US guys have been trained in Russia and visited Russian sites, and Russians have been trained in and visited many sites in the US.

Putin is a problem, but Putin won't be around forever. A stable, prosperous Russia is in the US's best interest. Much work has been done to align our two countries in a cooperative partnership, and it has been successful. Putin is surely rocking the boat, and he should be contained and constrained, but Russia and the Russian people are not our enemy. I agree with hawkbern...in the world that will emerge in the next 10 years the US will need allies, or at least non-hostile states with whom to negotiate. Changes are coming, and its a good bet that we won't like a lot of them...

I'm aware of the military relationship we started to have with Russia. Also familiar with American and European investments into Russia. I'm not speaking about things like that. Russia has historically opposed everything we do via the UN, I don't see us ever being close friends like we are with the UK. If they changed to a real democracy maybe that will change. Russia doesn't like the US and hasn't for since World War 1. I would like to see that change. But I don't see it.

Oh the Putin love around this place is sickening. Remember this is the kind of leader you LAUD over him but crucify Obama for killing a traitor who was at war against America (see al-Awaki drone strike).

Not sure how Putin is praise worthy in anyway, not sure how American's can have any love for this man, yet it continues to happen around here. This is just one of his many atrocious acts he has committed as leader and his make the a drone strike look like kids play.

Look what he did here, to Khodorkovsky, to the band ***** riot, to the journalist Politkovskaya, to Markelov (a civil rights lawyer who was beaten, killed then tried and sentenced to 8 years) and the list goes on and on and on.....

The opposition will hold in Moscow, ,,the Maidan,, about the murder of Nemtsov . Before 1 March was planned anticrisis dissenters marches , but few wanted to go there . I hope there don't will be provocations with killing people (snipers in Libya , Syria , Ukraine ).

Putin and his supporters are saying the assassination is a provocation, possibly from the west to attempt destabilize the country. Of course he would say that. I personally believe Putin wants a war with the west at this point. And is preparing for one. I don't feel the West had anything to do with it. It's a terrible time for the US to be leaderless.

Of course he does. The sanctions the west placed on him are killing his economy and factually, he brought this all on himself.

Putin is not a hero, a good guy or a leader, he is a KGB thug looking to damage us and the rest of the west. It's his lives mission.
