Scopes, monocular, whatever.

This is starting to look like data mining.

This starting to look like data mining.
Huh...I've been here longer than you.

If I wanted data, I'd make the polls show names. I like to know where preppers are with their preps, just from general interest of a personal nature. But I have no specialized use for the data - it is for everyone. I can see where I fit in as well as others. Are we on top, bottom or middle with our preps compared to the community. Sometimes it helps show where we are lacking.

For instance, today I listened to a podcast on communication. So that was the birth of a communication poll. Last night I watched a DVD on hog hunting in TX where they used various night vision to hunt hogs at night. Fascinating stuff. After I looked up the scopes he was using, it was over $10K for night vision. He must have some $$ or sponsors!

If I'm working in a prep area myself, I sometimes do a poll to see where everyone is at. Some people just like polls a lot. Just like some people like photos. Others don't like photos and are all text. It is all a matter of personal likes and dislikes. Polls are easier to get a quick fix on things, than reading tons of posts and trying to put it all together. Of course, sometimes you need detailed posts to get the info...hopefully with some photos to illustrate.

Beside polls, if you want a quick fix on things...do a Google Image Search. You can find out a lot about a topic from it fast. As opposed to trying to read about it hit and miss.

Of course, that doesn't always hold true. If you do it for this forum it looks like we are just a bunch of gun / knife nuts.

NO,, Im not suggesting people actually rely on THIS for survival NOD'S BUT... its proof concept that even something as cheap as this can be used to spot the IR led on a pvs14 if the operator is a moron OR it can be used to spot cameras on buildings from a distance at night.. Those IR leds light up like a Christmas tree even using a toy camera

"they" are everywhere not just here and every other social media site. I get the feeling that some of us has crossed a line somewhere at some time and they "check up" on us from time to time.

- In 2002, if you've seen my story before, I was harassed by the FBI. On and off, I was pulling the battery on my flip phone because I heard clicks in phone conversations and thought I was being listened too. In any case, I got out of the vehicle that I had and went into a small mall in Stockton, CA. About 10 minutes later a guy who I did not know walked by me, looked at me as he passed and said, "so this is where you went." YEA....I saw they had pinball machines and all of us "international criminals" of the James Bond persuasion play pinball when we aren't offshoring millions like the Governor of Illinois, Pritzker. Hahahahahahaha....

- In 2016/2017, I was walking my mom's dog at her place. I had basically moved back home because her friend (male in his 80's) was not doing well and I helped take care of him. Some guy, who I had never seen before or since walks by me and says, "are you living here now" and I said YES. And in my head I was saying to myself in Connor McGregor's voice, "Who da **** is dat!"

Secret Police or FBI or whoever the heck these people are, I have no clue and DGAF.

Maybe I'm drawing heat for hanging around with people they don't like. Or maybe they didn't like that I went into the Chinese Embassy and asked them for a job in China in 2002, after the umpteenth US business ripped me off(this time for $35,000 cash). These crooks and thieves take the cake....we get in all the trouble while they totally rape and pillage the country.

If there was a better. Safe. More healthy place to live. I'd already be there. The US is not a FREE COUNTRY.

My son is upgrading his security clearance, which is necessary even though he is not a government employee or in the MIC.

A female investigator called my wife, and after about a half hour on the phone in the next room, it sounded like my wife was fighting with someone over the phone. Calm, but gritted teeth and that slow 'listen to me, a-hole and understand what I am saying' type of speech.

I pushed the door open a crack and listened in. My eyes opened like saucers when my wife said: "Wait a minute, unemployed, my son has NEVER been unemployed."

After a few sentences on the other end that I did not hear, she let the lady have it:

"Look at the dates you are giving me. You are wondering why he was employed in July and August, and unemployed from September to June of those four years. The years he was FIFTEEN through EIGHTEEN."

"His periods of unemployment have another name...... HIGH SCHOOL."

According to my wife, the b###h said,. "oh, I see" and moved quickly on to the next series of questions.

These people may be corrupt filth, but many of them are also dumb as posts.

Having had security clearance of different tiers since I was 22 I can attest to this. The interview most recently 2 years ago with my neighbor asked who came to visit my home regularly ? His reply was how the hell i am suppose to know that he lives almost a mile away. They usually outsource the interviews and calls to GC’s who just bill uncle sam1000’s of dollars for their work. It’s an absolute scam.

I was going to let it all fade into oblivion but, trying to pull rank?...yeah, not today.
I, along with the Mods work really hard on these boards. Not only behind the scenes but, we also participate and try to have fun and hang out with the members here.

Instead of the OP comparing his preps to those of others is akin to "keeping up with the Jones's " He really should spend some time reading and hanging out with those that are masters of the topics he is interested in. Polls won't teach. Talking to the experts and those sharing experiences will. There is no benefit in comparing, nada, zilch. It won't help you to know what an anonymous member 1500 miles away has, compared to your own preps.
He has been here longer than me, he should know this.

A friend got some of these when we were kids. Unfortunately the first person he saw when he first put them on after they arrived in the mail was his mother…. Poor guy was scarred for life. Still refuses to wear glasses even though he’s blind as a bat now.
