Does anyone know the Laws about owning and carrying a pistol in Britain?

I'm assuming you are new to Scotland?
All handguns are banned, unless you have an abattoir license for the destruction of animals, or the gun is a black powder weapon (in which case you will need a Firearms Certificate), or the gun is an air pistol firing under 6 ft/lbs.
In any case, you would never be allowed to carry it. Never mind guns, you aren't even allowed to carry knives, sticks, screwdrivers or anything else if its purpose is for self defence.

S1 pistols may be used at approved target shooting clubs, and all relevant UK firearms laws apply to them, etc.
The only exception are members of the Irish prison service, or MP's (barstewards) - who may face death threats, etc. They can have what they want.....
If you are found with a pistol not on license, then i believe that you will be sentenced to 5 years on the inside.
If you have a license for any sort of pistol, i would say, DO NOT CARRY IT IN PUBLIC.
Armed police WILL shoot you DEAD - no if's, buts or maybes - DEAD.

I love Scotland...been there 2 times... family name came from there to Va. in 1635
but not being able to own a gun would really make it impossible for me live in Sctoland.... not that I would be allowed to work there... unless I wore a turbin and got a deep tan.
No pocket knives is just nucking futty. I read about a prosecution of some guy delivering news papers and having a pocket knife to cut the bail straps. It might be time for another Scotish war of independance?

Muzzle loading revolvers or pistols are also legal in the United Kingdom these can be of the black powder variety which fire lead balls. Or a modified weapon by Westlake engineering to fire wad cutter bullet’s using nitro’s powder muzzle loading style not cartridge into a newly manufactured cylinder in a black powder pistol frame with a new barrel which has been proofed.
But new on the scene is Westlake engineering is converting a 38spl revolver to muzzle loading nitro’s powder. So a version of police pistol 1, service pistol, and even speed plates & a limited version of action shooting could all be possible again!!!

The video was interesting, Im from the UK living in canada.
Bit by bit over the last 25 years the british people have been herded into the pens and told to sit there and be quiet.
laws have been made to help the human rights of criminals and defeat the common sense of the british public.
you basically cannot defend yourself ot your home or your family without some penalty.
we do not trust the police or the government or the courts, a few have power over the many.
I was trying to think of one era of government that Ive lived through that I respected....and to be honest the Only one that springs to mind was Maggie Thatcher....for all her messing around with the miners and the failed poll tax she stood up for Great Britain......Falklands war....
We used to be respected still and now look at all the thieving MPs stealing taxpayers cash for their own good, giving the country to any tom **** or harry who wants to come and live off benefits from round the world.
Theyll always be an England..............I wonder
