Three months ago, I lost my credit card. Canciled it and got a new one, just in time to find the old one "between seat and console."

I left a brand new GP100 at my cabin a couple weeks ago, under a stack of blankets in the back bedroom. I think the snow and cold had befogged me, is the only reason.

 

I think everything should work like cell phones, where you can use one to call the other to let you know where you left it.
I do that about once a week.

 

Air tags are about $20, there are now knock offs for about $10 but I have no idea if they work as well. And yes I did find phone by borrowing someone elses and calling myself.

That's how I find my missing phone if there's someone else in the house with a phone.

 

I carry 2 cell phones. 1 primarily for web use & my passed brothers line (it's larger), plus for the work alert/texting system (clinical communications/aka Doc Halo).

Thought I lost it out & about today, tried calling it from my primary cell#...didn't work because the big phone is forwarded to my primary. Dooohhh!!!

Then remembered I heard a weird clunk/thunk while driving & looked on the passenger side.

Sure enough that phone slid off my trucks center console between the seat & console. Everything's fine now...

 

Youngest left one on the school bus a few years ago. I had them sign into google and did the find my phone and saw it at the bug depot so we called them and went and got it.
Lost mine on a trail and got home and did the same and saw it moving down the road. Called from wife's phone and someone found it and gave it to the park ranger so I met him and got it back.

 

My son ran over his with a construction forklift.

I prefer a zipped pocket for my phone. I do have a pair of trousers with a phone pocet on the right hip, high up, which is a great place for one. It's not zipped, but is pretty secure.

When I'm using my phone eg as a shopping list in the supermarket, it has a little leash from the case to one of my fingers. This is useful also taking photos or using a gps app. I have two cases, each fitted with a leash/lanyard via camera hole.

When I'm at home my phone is always in a little desk organiser next to my bed.

 

I should learn to not put things up. That way I can trip over stuff and find them.

 

Most of my pants have a cargo pocket, or a dedicated "tech pocket", so, left thigh is where my phone is.
If I'm wearing something else, I'm never sure where my phone goes.

Was on a roadtrip a few weeks ago and stopped for gas. About 20 miles later, I realized I'd misplaced my phone. Figured it had to be in the car. Had my daughter call it and some guy answered it. I had to go all the way back to get it. My wife said I was lucky an honest person found it. I told her there's no way of knowing if he was honest or just realized the resell on an iPhone 5 is really low. He did refuse the $5 I offered him when he gave it back though. Guess I dropped it out of the car when I got out.

Lost/stolen iPhones can be bricked remotely, there is no re-sale value except for parts no matter what the age/value.

 

I have done this also. My wife to. Found the phones both times but had to search outside and retrace step. Took some time. Must be more careful.

Thing would slip between the seat and seat back - but all you had to do was tip the seat back forward to find your treasure.

 

My phone is always in its holster on my belt. Kind of "old school". I break the spring clip about every 10 months and buy a new one. Fortunately I can still find case holsters for my Blackberry.

We guys don't have good options for carrying all the damn stuff. Wallet, keys, phone ... (gun) .. I won't drive with keys in my pocket while sitting on my wallet.

Women have their purses. I bought a leather fanny pack which is just big enough for the three above with a separate zipper pouch for the phone. That's where the phone lives anytime I'm out of the house. I don't carry a gun.

 

I combined the wallet and the phone into one case.

I wear T-shirts with chest pockets and that is where it lives.

Gun goes in right pants pocket, Keys go in right rear pocket.

Speaking of losing phones...
Reminds me of the time I was pushing a tied up deer in a wheelbarrow down the hill from my truck to the garden where I planned to turn it into munchies....
Deer baled out of wheelbarrow, I wrestled it back in...
Found phone the next morning...

Funny story about the deer... I was driving away from job... deer jumped in front of me... I locked up brakes and slid into deer... tossed it into truck...
Stopped for gas and deer jumped out of truck...
I wasn't letting that meal go... ran it down, threw it back in truck, tied it's legs together with twine.

I spend a good part of my week calling my girlfriend's phone so she can find it.

 

I used to carry my phone in my top pocket, but I picked up a belt case which to get to the phone you have to lift the cover, then press up on the bottom to release the phone. I've lost mine three times before that, and had to have someone follow me around, calling it, until we could hear it ringing.

 

When not in hand I have mine in my front pocket. It’s in one of those two places only.

 

I'd like to do that, but I'd break it. I'm always moving, lifting things, etc. Having a phone actually on me is the best way to destroy it, so usually its on a surface nearby and just have earpods in to actually use the phone.

 

It only is important if your life depends on your phone, which it shouldn't. Convenience? Yeah sure, but not a necessity. Where I work, we can't have our phones, or any "broadcasting" electronic device. I like the convenience, but never tethered to the necessity. You do bring up a good point about doing your PCCs and PCIs for anything that is important...
