What do you guys think about the peace treaty with Iran? Seems like a it's a trick to get the worlds guard down.

This video is one example that could lead to dropped defenses.

RT - No need for Euro-missile defense if Iran deal success - Lavrov

This is a video of someone else that had the same general idea...

AMTV - Staged Attack Coming As Result of Iran Nuclear Deal

Obviously, I'm not the only one who thinks like this, but what do you think?

I don't know, maybe I don't get it. I see Iran as a few steps up from North Korea...virtually ineffective as a threat to us.
Besides, how would we respond to the UN or another country if they told us we couldn't use land mines, WP or drones?
Iran is no big deal. if they try anything, we'd light them up with the support of the entire world. In the M.E. they are only marginally more popular than Israel.

I wouldn't suggest down playing them... It doesn't take much to make a really devastating impact on us. We do have weaknesses. It only takes someone with the guts to kick us hard where it counts to bring us to our knees. Sure, they better not be in sight when we turn around to see who did it. Or they better be should to should with several big dudes who will back them up.

I think we are preparing for "one punch knock down"... We are beefing up our nuclear scanners at the ports. I think this is the only realistic strategy a country like Iran or NK would have to bring us to our knees.

Launching a nuke from a freighter ship would be their only shot. Well, that or get some terror cells in the US and attack our grid.

We may be strong, but we're not invincible like many would like to think.

We may even be under attack right now... someone could be pulling a reverse cold war on us. Maybe even the recipients of the other end of the last cold war :(

We are not exactly popular around the world, and we don't carry the clout we used to. Somebody might just work up the moxie to sucker punch us... A nuclear Iran with a fresh new influx of cash, food, energy etc, that they'll get from a relief of sanctions, may just be the country to work up the boldness.

While many other countries already have the ability to hit us, most are held back by MAD. They know that if they sucker punch us, we'll shoot em in the face...

However, there are a few nations out there (like Iran) who are lead by religious leaders who aren't afraid of retaliation. In their minds they would be ushering in their "messiah" and be given rule over the earth...

Kinda why some kids strap bombs to their vests, and go make a mess of themselves... They've got 72 willing virgins at their disposal on the other side, so their told :(

Nope they aren't.
I went to A school with those rags in 77-78, stankiest people there are.
Never wash their butts, brush teeth, use deodorant etc..
Even the USSA's homeless stank less than a rag.

I would guess things arent exactly the same as they were 30 plus years ago, I'm willing to bet they hate their government as much as we hate ours but keep hating on them if it works for you.

Those so called religious leaders who are willing to send out suicide bombers...they are not willing to have their country blown to ****. It's rhetoric and the Supreme Leader wants to stay the Supreme Leader, not Martyr of What Used To Be Iran.
Economic collapse is coming decades before we have anything to worry about from Iran.
If these zealots like Kim Jong and Khomeini are so hell bent on our destruction whats taking so long?
Relax and have a glass of wine, we are safe from both Iran and NK.

I started a thread on this a few weeks ago.

I'm not convinced Iran is trying to get a nuclear weapon, and I'm not convinced they aren't either. Too many things don't add up on both sides of the argument, and I just don't know.

I do feel, however, if they are trying to get a nuclear weapon that it's main purpose is deterrence. Iran is run by a bunch of whackjobs just like NK, and those whackjobs want to stay in power. They are well aware that they are hated by most of their neighbors who would love to topple them... but no nuclear power has ever been invaded.

I doubt they would offensively use a nuclear weapon, but I bet they would be the biggest bully on the block if they did obtain them. And if someone were to strike them after the fact, I have no doubt they would use them in retaliation and claim they were justified in doing so.

Of course there's also the issue of them "slipping" a nuke to Hezbollah or some other terrorist group and playing dumb when it goes off in Tel Aviv. Then again, would they be so stupid? Israel would certainly blame them regardless and retaliate.

I would not want to be in Mr. Netanyahu's shoes these days. That man has a helluva lot on his plate.

Unfortunately, if any one in the middle east looks like they will get a nuke then all of them will be attempting to do so just as deterents. That is all we need ( remember pakistan and india trying to see whos was bigger ).

Just like iraq all they have to do is let the inspecters in and the sanctions and the threats would go away. But they ain't going to do that.

perspective...

i have grandkids...when they come over...they know where to find the candy bowl of M&Ms ...their parents tell em "no" and of course I tell them they need to listen to their parents.

at some point a bribe ensues...that if they'll not sneak into the candy bowl, then in a little while after dinner, they'll get some....

now...some kids, sometimes, can reason this out and manage to behave if an adult is watching closely enough...

but sure as the sun rises, given the chance, there will be a hand in the candy bowl....

Iran can't help themselves...they believe they need nukes, they are guided to their core by their religion, and have generations of hatred against Infidels that will not be managed by one single negotiation.... no sir...they will get their nukes one way or another..and either use them or get a spanking for getting caught with them...either way ..it's gonna be a mess

I think it's just another smoke screen Iran's the new "boogie man" Bin laudin & saddam are dead they need something else to sabre rattle about.

If we spent half as much time , energy and money worrying about our own country as some bass ackwards 3rd world country we would be in great shape.

When will people learn? How many times did we hear about how dangerous Saddam was, how often did we hear him and his people chant death to America? Again, Our masters tell us who to be afraid of and why and we fall in line. Our masters are those controlling the MIC, they say Iran will bring the end of all we know, including death to apple pie and we all freak out.

The thing that sets Iran apart from North Korea and higher on the danger scale is this---religious zealotry. The ruling party in Iran are part of a Shi'ite sect that is looking for the return of the Mahdi (also known as the Twelfth Imam). According to this sect, the Mahdi will return at a time of great calamity. In the opinion of many, Iran is trying to go nuclear in an effort to try to orchestrate the return of this Mahdi. So, if they get a bomb or even a lesser, workable device (dirty bomb), they won't hesitate to use it, likely on Israel or US interests.

Granted, North Korea's Little Kim is a bit of a whackadoo himself, but he does have some sense of self-preservation. The doctrine of his assured destruction is likely to keep him in line. This doctrine does not work with the mind of radical islam, especially these Twelvers. For them, martyrdom is a goal to be sought. Death and destruction are not something to be avoided. Scary.

It must be that because they sure couldn't feel threatened by a bunch of Christians marching half way around the world surrounding their country with military bases and invading neighboring countries Iraq & Afghanistan and conduct drone bombing on Pakistan

After years of denials and pledges of "cooperation" the NorK's achieved a nuclear weapon largely through the efforts of the Clinton Admin negotiations, agreements and treaties.
1993
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) charges that North Korea is violating the NPT and demands that inspectors be given access to two nuclear waste storage sites.

North Korea threatens to quit the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty amid suspicions that it is developing nuclear weapons. It ultimately does not quit the program but agrees to inspections in 1994.

1994
North Korea and U.S. sign an agreement. North Korea pledges to freeze and eventually dismantle its nuclear weapons program in exchange for international aid to build two power-producing nuclear reactors.

1998
August 31 - North Korea fires a multistage rocket that flies over Japan and lands in the Pacific Ocean, proving the North Koreans can strike any part of Japan's territory.

November 17 - The U.S. and North Korea hold the first round of high-level talks in Pyongyang over North Korea's suspected construction of an underground nuclear facility. The United States demands inspections.

1999
February 27-March 16 - During a fourth round of talks, North Korea allows U.S. access to the site in exchange for U.S. aid in increasing North Korean potato yields. U.S. inspectors find no evidence of any nuclear activity during a visit to site in May.

September 13 - North Korea agrees to freeze testing of long-range missiles while negotiations with the U.S. continue.

September 17 - President Bill Clinton agrees to ease economic sanctions against North Korea.

December - A U.S.-led international consortium signs a $4.6 billion contract to build two nuclear reactors in North Korea.

2000
July - North Korea threatens to restart its nuclear program if the U.S. does not compensate it for the loss of electricity caused by delays in building nuclear power plants.

2001
June - North Korea warns it will drop its moratorium against testing missiles if the U.S. does not pursue normalized relations with North Korea. It also says it will restart its nuclear program if there is not more progress on two U.S.-sponsored nuclear power plants being built in North Korea.

2002
January 29 - President George W. Bush labels North Korea, Iran and Iraq an "axis of evil" in his State of the Union address. "By seeking weapons of mass destruction, these regimes pose a grave and growing danger," he says.

October 4 - U.S. officials, in closed talks, confront North Korea with evidence that they are operating a nuclear weapons program in violation of the 1994 nuclear agreement. Specifically, the U.S. has proof that they are operating a uranium enrichment facility. North Korea admits that is has been operating the facility in violation of the agreement. The information is NOT made public.

October 16 - The Bush Administration first reveals that North Korea has admitted operating a secret nuclear weapons program in violation of the 1994 agreement. They have NOT, apparently, admitted having any nuclear weapons.
...
April 23, 2003 - Declares it has nuclear weapons.

Now it's widely accepted that they have between 4 -8 "boomers". http://armscontrolcenter.org/public...rg/publications/factsheets/fact_sheet_north_korea_nuclear_and_missile_programs/

In Sept 1938, the world was treated to "My good friends, this is the second time there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Now I recommend you go home, and sleep quietly in your beds." Less than a year later was a rude awakening.

I'm moderately hopeful about the agreement. The sanctions the U.S. and its allies have put on Iran have REALLY hurt, decreasing the quality of life of the average Iranian, reducing the country's economic growth, and depriving the Mullahs of the money they need to export their revolution; or even be sure of staying in power. Ahmadinejad's confrontational style and threats were a TERRIBLE mistake, they realize now, and they need to go in a different direction. Having a nuclear bomb might be useful; but if trying to build one destroys the Revolution first, that's not a good exchange. Basically the agreement gives the Mullahs some time to think things over while releasing enough frozen assets to give them a chance to ease some of their financial woes. Hopefully they decide further cooperation will be worth cutting down their nuclear program so they don't wind up getting kicked out of the country themselves.

Have to call BS on our sanctions hurting Iran. They are fully capable of living w/o our help just as any country. We are appeasing them and NK. Tell them to do what they want because they are going to anyway. Our threats/intimidations do nothing to slow their plans. Every time they rattle their sabres we feed them more money. Have seen it too many times. Tell them to do what they want and permanently stop them---or just shut up and come home. Let them blow the whole middle east up--they will anyway and nothing we can say/do will stop it. Some well planned nuclear "mistakes" would stop their plans permanently.

This is simple.

An Iran with nukes is dangerous. Of course, Israel is a factor. Anyone in the U.S. who doesn't get that's the only outpost of friendship in that neighborhood, (albeit a stained one on occasion), likely won't be convinced of otherwise.

Anyone who is simply an isolationist is also not likely to be swayed by any argument that we should be involved with such things.

As to the rest… an Iran with nuclear weapons capability - which is where better uranium enrichment leads - is a danger to its other Arab neighbors as well. It destabilizes the whole region. And as long as so much oil flows out of that region, we care. Even at our recessionary worst, our economy sucks up so much world product and depends on the rest of the world spinning the way its supposed to.

Maybe we shouldn't be the world's policeman. But we are. Without us on patrol in the Persian Gulf and other trade route shipping lanes the veneer of our so-called modern society would be scraped up even further by violence and piracy.

That's it. That's the way it is. That's a price we pay for having something like 5% of the world's population sucking up something over 20% of world GDP. The reason we can have peace right now is the nuclear powers all buy off on the Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) thing. First strike is a zero sum deal for all concerned. But these crazy people? To them it's not. Or maybe it is, but they've cultivated a perception that they are crazy enough to use such weapons. And that gives them a stunning, shocking negotiating power if they get nuclear weapons capability. With better enrichment capabilities in house, they'll be on their way.

Bottom Line: A nuke capable Iran matters to us. Maybe not in a SHTF dirty bomb in our backyard way, but economically? Unquestionably. And as for any kind of economic SHTF as fallout, many here may be somewhat prepared, but does anyone welcome such a thing? I, for one, will be perfectly happy if every little prep I've got has been a waste of time. Though on that note, I try to multi-purpose things anyway so they're not just "preps." Whatever. I'm straying off topic… The path, yet again, this Administration is going down is horribly detrimental to long term U.S. interests. It's shocking. Even for Obamnation.

Look at the list of nations in OPEC and how Big Oil, the M.I.C., DC and the corporate media program our attitudes toward them:

  • Algeria
  • Angola
  • Ecuador
  • Iran - Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, sanction, posturing, etc.
  • Iraq - Decades-long wars.
  • Kuwait - "Liberation" from Saddam (actually, the restoration of the Kuwaiti monarch)
  • Libya - Topple, topple, topple
  • N1geria
  • Qatar
  • Saudi Arabia - Holier than thou. Bin Laden can even bomb us, but we won't raise a finger toward Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Venezuela - Evil "socialists" we're taught to hate. Not like the commies the Fortune-500 adores in China.

By all outward appearances, it looks like a big mafia hit-list, Saudi Arabia is the kingpin and we're the paid goons. Or at least some here are, most of us have to do the paying. Either taxes, or with our lives. To predict the next wars, expect it from the smaller OPEC nations. When one of the puppet rulers there falls out of favor with Saudi Arabia, we'll be rushing in to change another regime... Ahem... Bring "democracy" to the poor people of a certain nation... whose bad ruler "doesn't like us".

Though with the recent US flyby over some contested Chinese islands, maybe the US and Chinese M.I.C. will collude to fabricate a neo Cold War, so both sides can grow enormously rich on military contracts and money passed under the table...

Methinks a cold war with China would be a good thing. We'd stop buying all their crap which would spur American industry to replace what we're missing, resulting in a strong manufacturing based economy the likes of which originally made us the worlds leading superpower.

pay not attention to all those silly Obamacare fail stories, or that Benghazi thingy, or to all the illicit tricks I'm playing in DC right now or any of my other miserable failures with the economy...look! look! we have historic peace with Iran!! no...no...don't worry about what IRAN says..they misunderstood da words dat were comin out of my mouth...it's a big deal...really....

this admin is a sad sad joke that spins constantly and conceals deeply.

not making this about Iran.. I won't argue that actual issue here.. they've been a sticky point for...a long time...it's the fact that this U.S. leadership are failing so miserably and twisting truth...never mind that there is such obvious influence on the strings of the puppet we call Obama...you wanna cut the head of the snake..it ain't him....try looking at who's lurking in the hallways of the big house late at night... they call her... "the Night Stalker"

shine a light on that witch and see which way the roaches run for cover...then you'll know who to prosecute for crimes against this country
