In 10 years we are going to look back at December 2012 as the month things changed.

What I would like to do is create a thread that we can look back on it 3, 5,,, maybe even 10 or 15 years.

Posting links to auction sites is of no value, as the auctions will expire and the links will expire.

For those of you who would like to contribute, and run windows 7, there is a snip tool that allows you to grab part of your screen display.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Use-Snipping-Tool-to-capture-screen-shots

Some of the things I have seen so far:

Colt 6920 for $4,000
Ebay - (2) (TWO) AR-15 NEW, Aluminum NATO 5.56 AR15 M4 30 Round .223 Magazine Magazines Winning price: $315.00 (24 Bids)
Bushmaster patrol rifle - $2,299.00
PTR-91 - $2,275
S&W M&P 15 - $2,000
Ebay - Magpul PMAG 30 MagLevel, Black with Window & Dust cover NWT $65.00
Ebay - 3 Magpul PMAG 5.56x45/.223 $165.00
Ebay - Two BRAND NEW IN BAG black Magpul PMAG 30 5.56/.223 $95.00 (sold)

GunsAmerica - Colt 6920 M4 rifle $3,400.00

Panic buying? Have to wonder 'who' didn't get everything they ever wanted/needed after 11/2008. Anyone who didn't stock up after the 1st election, should have after the 2nd.

Local gunshop kept their same prices on guns in stock... till they ran out. There were a lot of panicked folks rushing in trying to get something that was suddenly scarce, that was easily obtainable just a few days before.

I've talked to quite a few people that don't care if "assault weapons" are banned, until I ask if they have one of these and one of these, and yes they do... well, your covered by the proposed ban... and their attitude changes quickly.

You make a good point.

We all know that obama was anti-gun. He was just waiting for the right time to push anti-gun legislation.

If you did not buy it in 2008, or 2011, why worry about it now?

Call me foolish but all of this grandstanding by the Anti gun politicians is just a ploy by the Obama administration to force a good deal on the fiscal cliff. Realistically nothing can happen until after the mid term election unless there are mass defections in the house and that is just not going to happen . We have time on our hands to work on getting out the Demoncrats out of the senate . The truth is that these idiots need to get reelected and a gun ban of any kind is not going to get them there . RELAX people congress can not even agree on what to order for lunch much less agree to do another semi automatic gun ban .

They are going nuts here in Georgia also, the best I have seen is a very nice Noveske AR loaded out with all top of the line bells and whistles,Acog ect going for 7500 dollars,I doubt he will get it but who know. Colts are bringing in over 2000-2500 and Frakenbuilds are going for 1200-1500 dollars. I think I will set this one out.

I don't have screenshots, as the prices I saw were from a gunshow yesterday, but there were several vendors with DPMS AR's for $1800+, RRA/Colt for $2200+, S&W M&P for $2400?

I figure these prices are old news by now, but I wasn't into shooting during the Clinton ban, so actually seeing these gouged prices were new to me. I should've just saved my $7 entry fee, bought a 6 pack and stayed home. Yeesh...what a crummy time to want to purchase your first AR.

I gave in and just panic bought!!!

I have these two standard metal 30rd mags that came with my DPMS rifle. They have not had a single round through them cuz I tossed them in the parts drawer right when I took them out of the original box. I use p-mags and I have loads of them.

I just ordered a three pack of Magpul followers for a whopping $10 bucks :D:

Anyone want to buy the two mags after they have the magpul followers?

Cheap- say $100 bucks each

:D:

So when we look back in ten years mabye TEOTWAWKI WAS REALLY SCHEDULED FOR DEC 2012. It seems that everyone is so scared and wrapped up in their own reality that as a free society we may never get back to where we were just a short time ago.

Posted in another thread but here goes:
Shooters of Jacksonville (FL) is price gouging.

1. PMag with no window Gen2: $39.99
2. Sig Sauer M400 (No add on goodies): $3,900.00
3. Winchester 5.56/.223 1k rounds: $800.00 Yes, that is an 8 with four zeros!

If anyone knows specifically in their area, beyond AR's and AK's, ammo and magazines for them are there other firearms that are flying off the shelves? What's happening with pistols with 15, 16, and 17 round magazines, pump shotguns and 'tactical' scope equipped bolt action rifles.

Gunshow yesterday was insane. 400 people lined up outside and price gouging out the rear end. Didnt feel bad for the fools that paid that much. Ruger 10/22 promag 25 rd mags were going $45. Those are prone to jam, I just wonder how much bx25 or butler creeks are going for.

People have lost thier minds....

Stay out of this, its not worth it, I got offered 4k for my DSA FAL today. People are crazy, best to stay away

How can you be on a prepper website and not already own what guns you need. Every new person here asks the AR/AK question. Who is left here who doesnt have thier crap together???

Pathetic, let the unwashed buy at 3x dealer cost. Im using this as a good evaluator for gun shops. Those gouging, hiding and holding back guns until prices peak, are in for a shock when word gets around about what thier attitudes are today.

Look what the same thing is doing to CTD

I love it

The difference between prepping in general and when there's a threatened ban without a sunset is huge. People have conflicting priorities and budgets.

I also believe that many who smugly think they're set aren't thinking really long-term, are juvenile or don't remember.

During the previous gun ban, those of us who still shot our weapons and took them out in the weather were finding our AR's, Mini 14's, and AK's were getting a little bit worn...most still serviceable, but they'd not last forever. The threatened AWB is FOREVER, without a sunset...I'd like my grandkids and their kids to be assured the rights and freedoms that our firearms defend.

You're prepped for FOREVER, including maintaining firearms to assure the freedoms of future generations? That's pretty darn incredible.

I think most of the smug folks are either not thinking really long-term, about our children and children's children's future, or else they're full of it...or they are non shooters. They're not considering the stagnation that can occur in the civilian firearms market as well.

I shot a Hi Power sloppy during the last AWB and wore an older Mini 14 enough that I wanted a new one (too frequent, too aggressive cleaning.) ten years of actually shooting these firearms in all weather conditions and heavy cleaning causes a lot of wear. There's a reason the AK and SKS I have now aren't the ones from before the AWB...I certainly didn't wear them out, but I sprung at the chance to get newer ones.

I heard pmags were going for up to $80 in local private sales. I was at the gunstore Saturday when it opened, Glock 19 mags were $60 and he said they might go up by the end of the day. The prices on AR's were $2,399...I'm not sure what the m1a's were listed at.

I went to the gunstore to pick up my Ruger Single Six, it was on layaway; but since MI governor signed the bill that says you don't need pistol purchase permits I was able to pick it up.

The only thing I want is a .22 lever action and a Ruger Blackhawk in .357/9mm convertable.

I personally am feeling vindicated for once. All my friends watching me stock up on 7.62x39 5.45x39 and 223 and laughing. two days ago I got a call from 3 of such friends saying "what are we going to do?? the **** is so expensive". I told them all the same thing. I dont know what you are going to do but I'm doing nothing. I wont list my collection on a forum but lets just say my grand children, if my son has any, will never want for any ar, ak 47, or ak 74 ammo or equipment.. unless of corse it goes down in a boating accident..

The stores around here seem out of everything EXCEPT shotgun shells. I might sell a few AR mags (The AK is my main combat SHTF rifle) and use the cash to buy more shotgun shells. My riot gun may, in the end, be my primary weapon

I don't have a safe...I have a whole walk-in closet for my "hobby."

I also have an alarm system that has a phone-intercom to a security agency.

IF someone breaks in while I'm gone, they have exactly 60 seconds to navigate my entire house and break into my locked walk-in closet. If they know exactly where it is in the house. If they don't know the magic word, cops will show up in about 5-10 minutes. (They LOVE to "rest" in the park parking lot that's about 30 seconds from my house)

IF someone breaks in while I'm home - I shoot them.

...never seen the need for a huge safe that weighs a ton. Just me.
