Pastors above all people should be familiar with whats coming. Its great to see that he's starting to prepare for hard times.

 

I've told the folks at the church where preach to prepare and be ready because you never know what might happen. Proverbs says that the ant stores up in times of plenty and the sluggard does not. No one took me seriously, but when Glen Beck said it everyone believed him.

Isnt that funny how that works. A lot of people unless they hear it on the telly dont take things seriously. A lot of good stuff comes from it but a lot of bad/desensitizing does also. Surprised he got the info out there that well. At least it worked in getting people moving/preparing. Just surprised the control allowed it. I speculate they want some to make it. Supplier sales went crazy those couple of months after he said that. A lot of back ordering. I think we well see that a few times here in the future. Best to get in on the stocking befor we cant anymore. Pushing the edge, getting closer and closer.

 

My pastor has been encouraging preparedness for a the past year or so as well. I first heard of a steri-pen because he mentioned it. Christians should prepare themselves not only for the inevitable persecution that is coming, but also for the possible emergency situations that might befall the country.

 

My Church has just formed a committee to start classes to inform and instruct members of our Church in gardening, canning, dehydrating and of course long term food storage.

We, as a Church, are also packing up 5 gallon buckets of Rice, beans, and pasta to start. Our short term goal is 100 buckets of each of the above by Spring Break. But will continue prepping hard from here out.

Our Church has a large commercial kitchen. If push comes to shove we figure we'll be able to feed our own from our long term bulk storage. But, the main plan is to teach everyone in our Church to stock their own long term food stores and learn to garden, can, and dehydrate now. So far, so good. Almost 3,000 folks in our congregation waking up.

WOW! Our church is about 100...to get 3,000 motivated is quite a feat. I'm actually surprised that what your church is doing isn't making at least the local news...that is unless you are mormon then you're used to it.

 

First Baptist....not every single member of the Church is involved yet, but we are working toward that goal.

Whilst it's laudable that he's preparing, I cant see the value in buying multiple weapons.

A semi auto .22 will kill food sized animals, and make a bad guy think twice.

People often dismiss the .22 as a round that wont cause damage, but I defy anyone to keep attacking after thay cop a couple of well placed .22 rounds

 

So I am guessing in your tool box you just have a banging thingie and a squeezie thingie.. after all you can put a screwq in with a pair of plyers.

Our pastor is on board with this although some of the "flock" are hesitant.

You know prepping and putting up food used to be a church activity, I can remember canning and quilting gatherings at our church back in WV.

 

I can see buying food, water, and other preparedness items but if they started stocking weapons as a church it might be a bit sketchy. Nothing wrong with a little gentle encouragement for the individuals to arm themselves though.

Doginit: Thats great about your church. Will the church use those supplies to help the community if a disaster strikes? Maybe something like if you attend services on Sunday morning and give a few hours to help in the garden etc?

 

The stuff he bought was for his family. We have a food pantry at the church already.. if SHTF we will relocate the food pantry food to somebodies house and it will be for anybody in need - not just for church members

We ARE the pastors at our church. We (our family) regularly hunts, camps, and goes fishing. We have a few (enough for awhile) guns, and about 6 months of food. We buy .22 shells every time we go to town. And of course we have ammo for the other calibers also. We are stocking up a toiletries pantry at our church. The other church in town has a food pantry. Most people around here hunt for food and entertainment so I think we will be okay. We do talk to our congregation about preparing but it is mostly preaching to the choir around these parts.

Tonight he stopped by for a visit, He does not have a credit card or a pay pal account because he usually just pays cash. I have been talking to him about silver, so tonight he ask me to go online and buy him a little over $1,000 in silver - He is going to give me cash on monday.

now he has food, guns, and PM.. I told him he needs to buy a grain mill and a water filter system (and let me borrow them...lol)

 

In our area, almost all the pastors i know prep, i am a "prepping" pastor and preach self sufficiency in the context of suffiency on God. I preach against the prevailing "entitlement mentality" that is so deeply entrenched in folks today. In some ways i am a prepping evangelist...LOL.Most pastors have upgraded thier church security protocal and have CC licenses, We know a guy that goes around from church to church teaching self defense to various age groups and emphasizing situational awareness.Many churches are involved in food ministries of one type or another, even have one in our town planting a victory garden to be a blessing to the community, this next season they are increasing from 1 acre to 2 acres and are supplying free help to those that need it. I have noticed though that many understandably are very careful how they discuss it.....most preachers don't want to be known as the pistol packing preacher or a food hoarder, because some errantly view it as a lack of trust in the providence of God alone. I see this as a very encouraging sign that there is an awakening going on amongst the people of God.

In all honesty also, some of them also are afraid of what the world would think of them. Agreed, many see it as a lack of trust also, but...... as I mentioned.

Also in fairness though, it is a difficult task to balance a ministry of non offense. I admire those that take that on.

 

Unfortunately not many people in my church are prepping, they all believe all will be taken care of.

 

Many think that way. And they are write to some degree. But, do you sit at the dinner table and food well suddenly appear on its own? GOD expects us to do the preparing/labor. We are told to be ready/prepare. Be sure and do what you know to do and eventually others well wake up. Pray for them. Also, sometimes not all are meant to know either. Some may not handle these things very well in there minds, but pray for those who are supposed to, to wake up. This scripture is spiritual preparation and literal.

A few years back my Preacher, who is also my lifting buddy, mentioned he had a pistol that was a gift from his wife right after marrying some 30 years ago. He brought it out, a nice little 4" S&W in .38 special. I took him, his pistol and some of my handloads out to do some shooting, along with a few guns of my own Long story short, within a year or so he had a Marlin .357/38, and O/U 12 gauge shotgun, a .22 pistol, 22 rifle and then finally another Marlin in .30-30.

None of our church people prep, although a number of them farm and garden. The associate pastor teaches our Sunday school class. He told us the other day that he did not even own a gun.

I wanted to give him one of the many Mosin Nagant rifles that I have, but my wife told me no. Not because of the money, but she was concerned that it would cause waves at the church.

 

She is probably correct. But they well be grateful you have them when the time is needed

yesterday I went with him to check out some gun shops...

He came home with a:
-Marlin 30-30 model 336
-Mossberg model 500 pump 12 gauge
-semi auto 22 rifle (I forgot the make)
-5 boxes of 30-30 ammo
-about 1500 rounds of 22 ammo
-several boxes of 12 gauge

Man, I'm ROFLMAO. Praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition.
Most clerrgymen are on a tight budget, so one wonders how he got all that at once?

I actually thought that all churches did that. I am surprised that people are surprised.

 

I don't know of any rich pastors except the ones on TV. However, I'm very familiar with churches feeding the less fortunate. They stock food for that purpose mainly and encourage members to contribute from their own food stocks.

 

I really like my preacher. He is a kind, loving, REAL (real as in honest,,,really honest!). A great man of God with Christ-like intentions.
We have another local preacher. He is a biker; a graduate of seminary and a true leader of his part of God's flock.

People do not want to believe that hard times are a coming, they think that anybody who tries to awaken them to the situation is just being a negative doomsdayer.

 

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean something isn't going to happen, right? LOL

 

Make sure your pastor realizes just how much he needs. Have him use one of the online food storage calculators if necessary. I have seen people's pantries after they rave about how much food they have because their pantry is full. Many of them wouldn't have a week's supply.

I'm always glad to hear about another person realizing that they need to stock up!
