We hit 100 degrees to for the first time this summer. The next couple of days are supposed to be in the upper 90s and maybe even another 100 degree day.

We have a door in the utility room on the back of the house, which has a window on it. Last month my wife put a space blanket over the window to block the sun light out. It has really helped and the temp in the utility room in the evening is cooler. Tomorrow I might put a second space blanket over the first one. Some heat is still passing through the space blanket.

The AC has run just about all day, I am dreading next months electric bill.

I hear ya, the heat and humidity is in full swing down here. I'm in my nocturnal mode, sleep during the afternoon, get up at sundown.:D:
Went out at dusk to mow a bit and in no less than 20 mins, I was ringing wet.
Mowed a garden hose in the dark to.:xeye:
My hens seem to be handling the heat well,...they have started laying eggs about a week ago. They really relished the watermelon I gave them today.
Summers aren't that bad,......it just a short time till it cools off some,....bout around Christmas!

I hear ya with that, I love the cool weather, can't stand the humidity.:thumb: We had fresh snow on the mountains on Thursday morning. Took a ride up to Hatcher Pass/Summit Lake and took a couple pics. Last pic is an Arctic Ground Squirrel that posed for me.:D:

How about putting on damp shirt and let the evaporation do the rest, while you are around the house, obviously no good for work but it does work, I did it while in Egypt, even as far as sleeping at night and the overhead fan evaporated the water, nice.

Can't say I envy you in the humidity. I remember I used to go to school with damp hair- and come home with damp hair. Now I'm here in S. Nevada and I have to slather on the lotion just to keep from cracking. We get verrrrrry hot here. Phoenix has us beat by 3-5 degrees on our hottest day. We keep our airconditioners set on 78 downstairs....80 upstairs with fans. Electric bill is around $250 /mo through summertime (June-Oct)

I gets into the 90 to 100 degree range in Southwest Idaho every summer...It's a dry heat and is more tolerable...At least thats what I tell myself...
Hang in there...we still have August to go before it starts to cool off some...Kinda makes me miss the days in January and Febuary when the temps get down around zero...

You guys are only just now getting to 100 degrees down there? Wow you guys got lucky. We have been dealing with 100 degrees + every day up here just about for the past couple of months now. Heck it hit 110 up here on July 4th, and thats with 60% humidity!!
Heck, our forecast for next week has every day listed at 102 +

All you need to get through it though is plenty of water, and some Zinc Oxide sun-block. And you should be just fine :thumb:

As of now, Weather Underground is reporting a temperature of 87F coupled with 78% humidity giving me a heat index of 104F. And it's been rainy and cloudy this morning.

I imagine by 4 pm I'll be around 95F with a heat index near 110-115F.

Just another summer day in South Florida.

We're in a drought situation here in Colorado and the temps have hovered in the upper 90s for many days straight. I'm 48 and have never lived with air conditioning until just a few days ago. I finally had one installed to keep my food temps under control. I don't personally need it and prefer to live without it as it affects my sinuses.

My father used to say he could deal with the cold better then the heat. You can always put more cloths on but you can only take so much off before the Lady's start pointing and laughing!

I like it in the 60's and can deal well with the mid 40's. The 80's are bearable and 100's are not uncommon in this area. The swamp cooler keeps it in the 70's in the house.

Shade is my friend this time of year.

Well it's only 94 here today...has been between 95-102 last 2 weeks...now August is coming and the worst of it, before September starts to bring relief...94 with 51% humidity, makes it FEEL like 102...yes shade is my friend too, as is a cold glass of tea.
Check weather.com, they are predicting really hot weather next week for most of the south.

Have you tried turning down the a/c and running a fan in front of a bowl of ice...sounds crazy but it cools off our bedroom at night pretty good and when it melts water a plant. Also no indoor cooking and try to reflect some heat out. We have almost made it all summer without ac and it has been hot and humid here.
