Hello from NoCo. Glad to see their is a fair representation from the area. About me.

I am married in my early 30s. I was in the Navy on Submarines for 6 years as a mechanic. I am now in a public service field in a small town. I have been "paying attention" for about 5 years now and doing what I thought was best to prepare. Thanks to the influence of my wife and friends around me, my efforts are beginning to mature I believe. I started shifting my focus from a heavily armed bugout from terrorism threats to a more well rounded survival from a societal collapse from anything from terrorism to simple and unintentional failure of the system we depend on day to day to natural disasters etc. I recently purchased my retreat property (not much but the best I could do and room for improvement). I am in the early stages of converting from the light and fast world of bugging out to the entrenched world of sheltering in place. As the words public service and small town should have eluded to, I am working on a shoestring budget. My wife and I have decided to split what is left over on 3 things.
1. preparing for the future if the **** doesn't hit the fan.
2. preparing for the future if the **** does hit the fan.
3. enjoying our lives and taking advantage of what is left of our youth.
As you can imagine that results in slow progress and the occasional compromise.

I am also part of a small group of people who have started talking about this stuff in earnest in a group setting. We are in the infant stages of trying to define what we are trying to accomplish with our efforts and what type of people we want to recruit to the effort. And with this what kind of gear we want to collect and what our plans will be. So expect to see alot of questions from me.

As far as my forum conduct goes... I always try to search out old threads before asking questions. Having said that, I always appreciate a link to other threads in response to my questions. I appreciate your opinions. I appreciate your opinions of my opinions and others opinions. I like to garner as much info as possible and filter it for myself. Please don't be offended if I treat your facts like opinions. Please feel free to disagree with me. I find you often learn more from those you disagree with than those of a like mind. I believe that the security you give up to utilize the vast resources that the internet offers is a steep price but worth it. I will generally be free with my personal information if I find it pertinent to the topic at hand. I look forward to getting to know some of you.

Hello and welcome from your other Northern neighbor - Montana, the "Big Sky Country". I have a son in the Loveland area and I work for the same company he does. I worked in Loveland twice now for several months at a time and like the area - but won't move out of MT!

Thanks for your service. Sounds like you have a fairly good plan. Good luck with it. Lots of great info here, enjoy. Also, if you haven't, look at the SurvivalBlog.com
