When you see articles like this.....it's really an insight into how sheep think and...... a lesson to us, ALWAYS have a place to go in case of an emergency. It really doesn't make a difference if you are camping in a car/van, staying in a 10x12 shed on remote land, or camping in your favorite spot as long as where you go you have some relative assurance of security for up to 2 weeks.

I'll give some insight into sheep and herd mentality - one Monday, I worked some OT, told to work however long I wanted. Around lunch, I said screw it I'm burnt out and picked up a pizza for me + coworker. Wore my work pants, but took off my work shirt. D'oh, forgot my work hat is on. 30+ people see me and follow thinking there's wildlife around

A different time I pulled over at a turnout to text my boss something and figured eh, I'll have a smoke real quick. This was at about 0610 - 2 different cars about plowed into me because they saw me, swerved into the turnout thinking that there's wildlife around.

Working retail years ago and working in national parks has definitely set a spooky image of what SHTF would look like

Sometimes it ain't much better. I've been through a few fires. One in 2017 saw a motel 50 miles away charging $400 a night! This was usually a $40/night no tell kind of motel. Shootings, drug dealing, prostitution are quite normal at that motel. For comparison, you can get a great room in the decent part of town for $100-200 depending on the level of bougie you want.

Better off having a BOB and supplies in your vehicle. Better if you live in an RV like myself and can hitch up and go.
