I MIGHT have to take a meal break from my carnivore thing! 😍😍 I LOVE spaghetti!

Homemade tomato sauce, home-dried spices, ground beef and lots of noodles!! 😍😍😍😍

Oh and freshly grated parm. Not that sawdust in the shaker cans.

I know the Italians out there and probably a large portion of the forum will think I am nuts but my favorite is Kraft Spaghetti Classics Tangy Italian in a box.
We brown a pound of ground beef 80/20 with about 1/2 a chopped yellow onion and mix the sauce packet into a 8oz can of tomato sauce (no water) cheap, simple, easy and honestly, I like the taste better than most brands of sauce.

I've got about 10 boxes stocked up right now so I need to get more soon.

I used to see this in people's carts pretty regularly when I worked at the grocery store, but I have never tried it. When I had the boys at home I had to make so much to feed them that I would have had to spend a couple hours tearing boxes open before I could get started cooking. Those kids ate me out of house and home for several years -- from 1st grade until they moved out after high school!! 🤦🤦

I vacillate between ground beef, meatballs, or sweet Italian turkey sausage.

Sauce is usually homemade, with homegrown tomatoes and herbs.

Grated fresh parm and/or mozzarella on top.

Any of the main brands of pasta are fine, I buy what's on sale. But do prefer vermicelli as it holds up to the weight of the meat.

Tonight is spaghetti with meatballs, garlic bread, and Roma Italian Flat Pod green beans.

Boy, do I wish I had some cannoli for dessert! 😁

:D

I know everyone makes their meatballs differently. Mine are:
Image

1 pound ground beef
1/4 c bread crumbs
1T dehydrated minced onion
1/2 t salt
1/4 t pepper
1 egg

Image

I use my cookie scoop to make them all uniform. Bake at 375* for about 20 minutes. Then add to the sauce.

I canned the sauce over the summer. It has a variety of tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, parsley, oregano and basil, all put through the food mill before canning.

Happy National Spaghetti Day, y'all!

I buy Aldi's marinara sauce and doctor it up. We like plain pork sausage in ours, any brand, and any brand of thin spaghetti. No sides needed - protein, carbs, and vegetables already included! Hubby actually prefers the powdered cheese in a can (shudder). Sometimes I smother it in mozzarella and put it under the broiler, but then it's a Spaghetti Bake instead of just plain spaghetti.

Spaghetti is one of my favorite meals. Mom used to make it with the package dry mix with tomato sauce. I started with that but now I make my own with plain tomato sauce, lots of garlic and oregano and dried Italian seasoning. Meat sauce with the emphasis on meat. Make a big batch of sauce and freeze most of it. Restaurant spaghetti and bottled spaghetti sauce is bland, bland, bland.

Well, considering I have food intolerances, this is kinda hard. But, I shall pretend that my food intolerances are non-existent, to make this easier.
  • Sauce: traditional, heavy tomato sauce. Heavy on the spices, has cheese, meat, onions, and garlic in it.
  • Meatballs with some ground meat
  • Pasta type: a rice-based pasta. The type depends on my mood. Some days a good penne is good, cavatappi others. Occasionally a typical spaghetti or a macaroni.
  • Cheese, of course. Parmesan, cheddar, asiago.
  • Hmmmm, sides with spaghetti...garlic bread, definitely.
  • Well, I think everyone in my family makes it different. Personally, I make my pasta/spaghetti in a pot with a decent amount of salt and spices. I then make the meat, following the same concept. I do not mix them (unless it is a macaroni) on the stove but instead do so on my plate. Is this a tradition though? I have no idea, I just do it, lol.

A day late and a dollar short as usual but we do a variation of Filipino spaghetti with a fried egg on it. We don’t use the hotdogs. The sauce is whatever I have in the pantry cause I doctor it up anyway. Sometimes I add spinach, mushrooms, peppers, onions whatever I have. Same for the meat, we love meatballs but usually do ground beef or pork.

Im a twirler not a cutter 😬. This isn’t my photo but it looks something like this

Favorites....

A white sauce or mushroom creamy
Thin spaghetti...not angel hair, just thin...
Meatballs or Italian sausage.

Sides? what are sides when having any kind of spaghetti? No more room on the plate.
