I’m a horrible gun owner. Delivery has been delayed for some reason, but I haven’t even received the shotgun and I have a box with WML, new co-sight ghost ring/optic plate, an optic ready to slap on, and an adapter kit for a spare Magpul Mossberg stock, and (I’ll hold off on the stock). Is this a case of buying accessories to justify the gun?

I’ll at least pop off a few rounds today or tomorrow but won’t get to really run it through its paces until the end of June as I’ll be out of town.

Anybody get to finger one the newer generation 1301’s?

Picked it up from my dealer on Tuesday. Kind of screwed up. I have a Holosun 509, enclosed emitter optic, but the additional mount necessary raises it too high to co-witness. I could have just left the original rear sight/rail assembly on for that what it's worth. I can probably pick up an EPS model down the road for a co-witness. That said, the optic is nice, and svelte.

Light added, simple Streamlight TLR RM2 with pressure pad. The only issue is the handguard as it has very limited MLOK slots for rail attachments. Not bad, but I will probably upgrade later on the handguard.

Nah all that stuff is practical, but I'd love to see a heat shield added to the list :D
I will probably upgrade the handguard that "can" take the heat shield, but not sure I'm going to add the shield at this point and time.

Are you going to run a mix of ammo?
Yep.

Did you do the magazine tube extension modification?
Extension mod? The only one I heard of is removing the internal end cap which isn't necessary. Possibly adding a Wolff spring, but we'll see how the OEM does.

I'm don't mind the OEM stock (pistol grip), but I am getting the Magpul adapter kit as I have a spare Mossberg Magpul stock and may try that out down the road. Just to note, the shotgun arrived as is and the stock has a shorter length of pull. It can use spacers, but I think they're purchased separately; that kind of sucks.

Get a damn good recoil pad for it...
Nah, no need. I don't plan to shoot too many 3" magnums...

Congrats! Those are sweet. I ordered a security bbl for my old 870 yesterday.

Its been my go to since 1976 when I bought it from some guy in his livingroom up in Dayton. I have a mossy 88 too but my old 870 has never let me down once in nearly 50 years of steady gunning. I plan to keep her chambered with double aught and followed by another, the slug-dbl aught-slug. I believe in overkill.

That's the kind of response I would expect from a rookie who never shot a full box of hi-brass buck in one sitting:D
I'm a rookie, well, I've shot a fair amount of various 12ga shells, 3.5" have their place, but I'll happily wear the rookie tab to avoid shooting a box of 3.5" magnums! :ROFLMAO: I don't need no stinking recoil pad...that's why you give those stout loads to your boy!

Rock 6, please let us know how it runs. I have been very close several times on buying a 1301T. I have a CZ1012, Benelli Montefeltro in 12 ga, and a Benelli Montefeltro in 20 ga. Those are my only semi-auto shotguns. All three are for clays and hunting. I am interested in a good semi for defense. I suppose they would work, but not ideal.
I've just put a couple dozen rounds through it to get it zeroed in the back yard, cycles great. I'm still working on the manual of arms to be honest. It will be a couple weeks to get my son out to the range with me. We plan to do some comparisons with his Benelli M4, my 1301, my older Benelli M1S90 and possibly his SWAT chief who as the Beretta A300 patrol. I've got a good mixed box of a few hundred shells ready to go.

My son ran his Benelli on his department's rifle qualification course and was able to keep up. He actually outran the Benelli. He's no shotgun pro but was slated for the GA two-week trainer's course (pistol, rifle and shotgun) in August. He's looking forward to more training on the shotgun.

I'll make sure my son gets all the 3.5" mag shells:ROFLMAO:
