I think there should be a law somewhere that prohibits this kind of behavior. Oh wait, there is. It is illegal to impersonate a police officer. And that is exactly what they are doing by painting their cars in the same fashion as a police car and even wearing uniforms similar to a police officer. I wonder how far this will go before they get shut down, what some redneck like me tells one of them to go eff themselves and gets beheaded? Thanks a lot democrats.

 

I had similar thoughts including the police emergency lights. I can't think of any place that allows official emergency lights on any vehicle other than genuine emergency vehicles. These neighborhood patrols have to be approved by the local authorities I believe. There was one comment in the article that kind of implied that they had.

Funny how in the west when groups do this to patrol certain areas along our southern border it gets all kinds of coverage, usually throwing around terms like extremist, racist, xenophobic, radical, hate group, violent, etc. etc. You'd THINK they were talking about mooselimbs, but instead they are talking about concerned Americans who want to keep people from illegally entering our country since dot gov hasn't been interested in protecting it since Pancho Villa died.

We have a neighborhood watch but it's mainly just a couple signs and some old/nosey people that call the cops on everything.

 

This made me laugh. I'm 47 and by far the youngest in our neighborhood watch. We also have a VIP (Volunteers in Patrol) program where it seems everyone is a wanna be police officer (still some older folks but the VIP is a more series of the two IMO and has the younger or at least mid age crowd). The most intense things I've done is report street lights out and other 311 related issues (a couple loose dogs to boot - there has been some burglaries that some in my area were able to report on - the VIP also get special 911 treatment). However, when your city is 2,000 officers short with no reprieve insight any bit helps (or at least, that's my thought).

 

So let me make sure I understand this: you've got a bunch of citizen's patrols in the greater NYC area driving cars painted in same colors as NYPD with some of those groups wearing uniforms that could be easily mistaken for an official NYPD officer? Great. What could possibly go wrong?

 

What would happen if you would flip them off? You know, the finger. Would they get in your face or just drive on by. That will be the tell.

Nobody said anything about trusting the government, but as much as we do not trust our government we don't trust Muslims even more and with damned good reason.
