I was in 6 different units while in Active Army, National Guard and Army Reserves. I also had an affinity for acquiring unit crest and patches from other units and soliders from other countries when able to do so. My favorite still remains my first active crest. Image is not the most detailed being a tanker, but the message is special. What was/is your favorite crest or patch?

Had the Marines had division patches, I guess I'd have worn these:

If we had Bn patches, I guess we would have worn something like these:

But the Corps believed we were all Marines and didn't need patches. Simply wearing the uniform was all the "patch" we needed. At least back when I was in.

But I was proud to wear this one in the Army Guard:

Long lineage behind the Yankee Div. And I am now a member of a state militia unit that had most of it's members volunteer for duty in WWI. They reported as a Cav unit (horse) and were made a machine gun unit and sent to France.

You Army guys get all the cool bling.
The Army does have bling. :D: I joined the national guard after 4 years active in the Corps (had three ribbons) and almost immediately got four more ribbons. I think I ended up with 12 by the time I retired. You'd have to fight a lot of major battles in major campaigns to get that many in the Corps.

My Marine uniform was pretty basic. But it was sharp and they took care in making sure we looked good. And we did. Not so much in the Army (at least in the Guard). The Marines still have the sharpest dress uniforms of all of the services.
