I've been recommending this for some time. We have a Roku Box and an HD antenna and don't really miss it at all. In the end, it's all a question of whether we are willing to put our money where our mouths are. It makes no sense to own firearms and fund the anti-gun agenda to the tune of $1000 a year.
what are the monthly costs

I get weather, local and national news, sports, entertainment, history and more for a little over 100 dollars a month. I am wise enough to filter out the crap from reality, use my zapper to avoid advertising and I have made the conscious decision to continue such arrangement for the agreed upon subscription rate.

If I want, I can disconnect everything, call the company and cancel service anytime. If I do that it will be based on financial matters and not philosophical rumors. That is real freedom. Saying you got rid of it and don't miss it is acknowledging that at one time you found some value in it. Why did you have it in the first place?

I don't see any reason to believe you have set any moral high ground for yourself. You have simply made a choice that makes you feel better about yourself. You shouldn't extrapolate those actions on anyone else. But like a lot of progressive ideas, it will make you think you are a better person for it. The act of cutting off ones cable is simply symbolic and has no effect on the issue present or future. How many gun commercials would they have to air to get you back?

I get weather, programming and news free. Why pay for something I can get free?

The quality of programming has degenerated to the point where I find many shows morally repugnant. One example. A new show "How to get away with murder". It was an interesting premise with a lot of potential imo. However the soft gay porn portrayed on the show left me disgusted and I stopped watching after the second episode. I had 2-3 shows that I liked and one I still like that I watch online free. I liked Burn Notice, Justified, The Walking Dead and Person of Interest for example. Two of the shows are off and the other two seriously declined in quality imo. Though Person of interest lost me when they killed off Carter. The only show still on that I regularly watch is The Big Bang Theory and it is sliding in quality lately.

I cut it because it was a waste of money, I hated most of the commercials, I hated paying for channels I never watched, I hated their lack of customer service, and I really hate how so many of the current shows push the progressive agenda so hard. Why feed the beast?

Archie Bunker had a gay friend and didn't know it. Times have not changed all that much.

If you can't see the difference between that and showing 2 naked guys having sex on national tv, then I don't know how to explain it to you.

I don't have cable. I have AT&T Uverse internet & voip only. As far as I know, it's dsl not cable. I would not have cable since if you have cable internet, the more people on your street that are using cable internet, the slower your speed will be. Dsl uses phone lines, not cable. My speed NEVER goes down no matter how many people on my street are using the internet. That was the cable deal breaker for me. If I'm wrong, tell me, but this is what I understand it to be.

It sounds wrong, but I don't know enough to refute it.

Have to agree that a lot of TV is crap these days, but missing something. I have a ROKU box as well as Verizon. I don't like every offering that say NetFlix has through ROKU, but pay a small monthly fee to get the streaming service. If I don't care to watch particular movies, I simply don't watch them. I am still supporting in a round about way the anti gun producers and actors with the monthly fee even though I may not watch the movies they are in, direct, etc.

That is just an example because any service that "bundles" different shows etc are being supported by anyone who has cable, ROKU, etc as they receive X amount of dollars for making their films / shows available to these services.

Seems the only way you can actually not support these who wish to jeopardize our rights is to have some sort of service that has no monthly fees, and charges a fee per view. If you watch say an hour of this or that news, you are billed a fee for doing so. If not, whether you think you are making a statement or not, you are still supporting those factions via the monthly bill for the service.

What you are saying is in today's standard there is obviously one paradigm that is more shocking than the other. But what I am saying is.......the resulting offense is no different today than two generations ago. My parents put their television on the curb for the next day's garbage collection and the OP terminated his Comcast service for nearly identical reasons. Philosophical. Religious. Moral objections. Comcast is a terrible company service wise. That's why I would not be a customer.

This is an old thread, so ask yourselves. Have things gotten better or worse?

I personally did it for personal reasons. I had just grown tired of watching crap. And the thought of just sitting there in front of the television began to annoy me. When real life was passing me by.

Why watch a bunch of made up crap about someone else's life? When you can live your own life.

The money I save was just an added bonus, and what a bonus it has been.

I am at the 78 month mark of no cable.
78 months X $72.00/month = $5,616.00 that has gone in my pocket.
Imagine how much prepping you could do with $5,000.00. Keep $600.00 for yourself as a reward.

Along with canceling, you should all write or email these people and tell them about your displeasure.

We are in the end game folks and it ain't looking good.

Just imagine what a president could do if he didn't need the 2/3 majority of congress to ratify a treaty.

First T.P.P. then the U.N. Arms Treaty he has been salivating over for years.

This is about as serious as it gets.
