Yesterday, I went to the nearest Wal-Mart to see if I could pick up a few boxes of ammo to add to my supplies. I waited forever to have someone assist me. I finally had to have them call for assistance. After a long period of waiting for them to find the key to the locked case, one of the male employees looked right at me and said to another male employee, "We've got a lady here who wants to shoot people." Needless to say, I did not smile. He slowly got the ammo out of the case and took it to the register. I asked to have him take it to a register up front as I had other things to buy. I also respectfully spoke with him and asked that he not ever say anything like that again when waiting on a customer...that it was in extremely poor taste. I told him that I had no intention of shooting anyone, but that I did intend to protect myself if I felt threatened. He just made light of it, said he was just making a joke, and that I was making a big deal out of nothing. I told him that I had chosen to have the conversation with him rather than talking with the store manager and that he should take my comment more seriously. As I walked away from the counter, he mumbled something under his breath....just quietly enough for me to be able to hear it but not understand it. Needless to say, I went straight to the Customer Service Manager on duty at that point. I did receive an apology, but...
What would you have done? Has anyone else had something similar happen?
