Safes are good but not fullproof. Make sure you take the time to bolt it down. Also if you can put it in a tight spot. Somewhere it would be tough to use a metal saw or grinder at it. Theives have been know to cut two sides of the roof and pry it up with a crowbar, tip the safe over and reach in to get your stuff. 500lbs of ammo in the bottom wouldn't hurt either. Just sayin.
Sorry to hear of your loss. I hate a thief more than just about anything.

Sorry you were hit.. We were too, years ago. That's what prompted us to get the security system. After feeling pretty violated for a while, I finally decided it was just a lucky wake-up call.. Lucky in that everything that was stolen was replaceable, no one was home at the time, no one got hurt or worse. Life went on, and we became more secure. I wish you well..

Wow, sorry to hear. My house was burglarized in 2004. Hate the feeling and my wife took years to recover from it. They stole most of my guns and I regret using a Gun cabinet at the time. Funny thing is, they left the guns they probably would have gotten the most money for, i.e. the antiques.

Same thing just happened to me a couple weeks. Stole my ak-47, mossberg 500, and my roommates ruger. He got that gun from his granddad before he died. So that cant really be replaced. They also got pretty much all electronics. laptops, tvs, playstation 3, and whatever else they could get their hands on. They were nice enough to put my super friendly pit bull in the cage for me tho. Called the cops and they were pretty much useless. Insurance company is acting like I broke in my own home and stole my own stuff. Its a hassle trying to get my money from them. Still waiting...

The guy who broke into my house was my roommates ex boyfriend. He had been in the house before. I don't know if he knew we had guns, but I do know that he knew we had nice electronics. And he also knew my dog wouldn't attact. Most people are afraid of her because of how she looks, but she is a softy. Most break-ins arent random, but are people who have been casing out your house and are just waiting for the right time strike.

Sorry about your loss!!

A couple of ideas Check your next phone bill carefully Most people would be surprised how bad guys use phones while inside a burglarized home.

I was able to clear a number of cases using a phone bill, 1 idiot used the victim's phone to call his probation officer, another to call his drug rehab center for his next appt, numerous bad guys that called his fence, supplier, friends and relatives.

Also if you file an insurance claim, accept settlement then if the property is recovered it legally belongs to the insurance company. Happened to me once, I had to buy needed or wanted property from insurance company.

Thank GOD most bad guys are stupid or we wouldn't catch any of them.

YMMV
