I wouldn't want to go without electricity in the winter that's for sure! The previous owner of our house removed a wood stove, but left it and the piping. I'm starting to think that I should reinstall it, so we are not dependent on electricity for heat. We hit -38 this winter, and if our power had gone out, we would have had to go crash with relatives.

I'm a bit of a long time lurker, who has finally decided to sign up and join the fun. I've been interested in prepping for a bit now, and actually had a chance to utilize a bit of it this past summer during an emergency we were caught up in. It really shows you the holes in your plans when you're forced to use them. I learnt a lot about what worked and what didn't work.
I've gotten some great information from this site over the years and I hope to keep that going!
