Good day all, just to introduce my self, I'm a single father raising my daughter alone, born and raised in the hills of West Virginia I've spent my life around fighters and survivors, so I'm not new to the idea of prepping, but I am new to the actual task of prepping. The recent blackout here was the kick in the pants that made me realize just how unprepared I was...no water, no stores, no access to the bank, no way of cooking ect. Thankfully my country roots taught me to always have a little something on hand at all times, but if the outage would have lasted longer than it did my daughter and I would have been up the creek.
So now the two of use scour the net and the local library daily looking for information on the how-to's and why-for's of survivalism and that's how I discover this forum, and to use her words..."never again"...We won't be caught with our pants down like that again.

Howdy and welcome from southern Oklahoma. :)
Unless your daughter is very young this advise won't relate, if she's older, have your daughter read some of the How To section and the ladies forum, there is a lot of info there about certain lady things that might help her out that dosen't pertain to you men, if you know what I mean.:D:
Anyway, read read read and read some more. i'm sure yall will have a lot of fun.

Howdy,

Welcome to the forum.

Things to ponder follow:

Have a BOL? (If needed)

Self-sufficient? Garden? Have garden tools? Store food-wheat, beans, etc.?

Heat with renewable fuels? Have firewood cutting tools?

Own a rifle? Reload? Cast bullets? Hunt? Fish? Have the equipment and supplies?

Homebrewing? Can food? Have the equipment?

Practice permaculture? Gather wild foods?
