Jason Bourne Wahl Clipper cut because it's really hot down here. And because I have the clipper and the solar power to run it and I do my own clipper hair cut now. I've gotten good enough at it that Mrs Cricket rarely wants to touch it up anymore. That's unfortunate because it was really fun playing barber chair with her.

 

I still have a full head of mostly non-gray hair but like to keep it short. If it gets too long and sexy, the chicks go nuts.

I think if the SHTF, people would get tired of rank, greasy, lice infested heads of hair and singe it all off. No Wahl clippers because no electricity in the aftermath....

I have a set of manual clippers, new in the box. Lets hope those hold out a while. If not, with this nappy mess I only have one other choice - dreads.

I saw this movie called the Day After. There's this nuclear war, see, and the next day, like everyone had like long hair and beards. And they were dirty, too. It don't matter if you cut your hair, after a nuclear war, like it grows back real fast and dirty too. Its probably like something with radiation, you know.

 

...and then you hang a bunch of crap off it--bits of rags, feathers, bones, bullets, shot shells, human teeth, dog vertebra...

Your hair and beard actually have a basic function. To keep you warm in the winter. Some people get to be warmer than others however. I keep it short now. But I doubt I would bother getting it cut down the line. It may actually be the very last thing on my list of priorities.

 

This, Long hair and beard keeps the sun off when its hot and keeps you warm at night when its cold . Even when its hot, the beard and hair seem to hold water and alow long periods of cooling when there is even the slightest wind.

I always go feral in the lead up to a big adventure in the bush in Australia. Try walking in 100deg sun with a buzz cut and no hat or sun screen and on the flip side try walking through freezing winds (below 0 deg c) without a beanie.Its also good camo.

I find after a while (few weeks) your hair sort of finds its natural balance, no washing required. I also find animals are not as spooked down wind if I Haven't used soap or shampoo for a little while

My husband wore a flat top, high and tight, salt and pepper. Sometimes he wore a beard that would have put Moses or the ZZ Top guys to shame, but when the chihuahua would pull on it too much, he'd shave it off.

Thankfully ive been using no guard on clippers for as long as I can remember. Ill keep it as short as possible (jojo's manual clippers are a great idea) but wont be Bic-ing it due to the work needed to stay smooth.

Have been cutting the hair with the #4 blade for several years now and will likely be dropping down to the #0 blade before the first grandchild. At least the beard is coming in pretty well, mostly white except for a dark patch on the chin which means that before Santa-season (in time for deer season -yikes-) I have to start bleaching it Don't want to be mistaken for the south-end of a north-bound deer!
