How are your new years resolutions holding up?
I've stuck to my personal challenge of "save an equal amount to what I spend on my credit card". This works for my circumstances due to the combination of good luck I've had and intentional compromises I've made over the years. I don't think it's reasonable for everyone to try to match all their bills with savings, but I think anyone could match their truly discretionary spending with equal savings if they prioritized that.
Are you embarking on any new habits for the second half of the year?
My new habit is to sharpie the date-opened on each multi-serving container that I open, so that I can see how long it took me to use the whole thing when I'm eventually throwing the container out. I've tried tracking item duration in other ways before, but no system I've tried yet has been easy enough for me to just do it even at inopportune times. Writing directly on the item when opening it and looking at the writing when discarding the empty container, though, is so simple that I'll find it easier to just do the thing than to make excuses not to.
