Well, actually the rider has a death wish. He's riding in the wrong position on the road and as you can see from the video the car pulls along side of him. That's the perfect way to get pushed off the road and wind up in a pile in the ditch. In this case it worked to his advantage. Had he been in the correct position he'd have been in the middle of the collision...

The position I rode in was largely determined by my read on traffic. I usually rode closer to the center line but occasionally rode to the right. It made little difference around here. Drivers have a total blind spot when it comes to bikers. I sold my bike years ago due to it not being fun to ride anymore. I'd be too tense to get any joy out of the experience. I was in Condition Red all the time.

My wife who also rides is looking at a bike today. Nothing good will come out of her getting another one. But she is her own person and despite my warnings, she is adamant about riding again. If we were living elsewhere, I'd consider riding again. But not in CT.

When I was riding to work on the highway and in the left (passing lane) I would usually move right so the people in the right lane saw me. Didn't work and I thumped more than a few cars with my hand or foot to get their attention before it turned bad.

Had one lady call the troopers on me and I got stopped. I had kicked a bit too hard and actually dented her door. :D:

It was a fun stop. I explained to the trooper what I did and he spoke with her because she stopped behind him. She said she hadn't seen me. The trooper just told her you need to pay more attention. :D: I was all ate up and asked her why she wanted to kill me. Like I said, fun stop. ;)

It probably helped I was wearing my Blue Knight colors. ;)

Dude was completely lucky and had nothing to do with a guardian angel.

Seeing how many people text, drink, are oblivious, etc. when they drive there is NO way that I would EVER get on a bike. I have a buddy that is a death scene investigator and he has plenty of cases that back my conclusion. I might do it to ride the back country roads once I get out of here but even still, probably not worth it.
