Tonight's episode of Domesday Preppers has a segment focused on Fish Meds and I am sure that not to long in the future the Guberment will find a way to regulate them.

I have rosacea and they have prescribed me a low dose of generic Doxycycline 20mg twice a day, but I only take 10 mg so I am storing up the rest. Not sure if this is enough for something serious...but it might give a few of y'all a plan of action. There is a bonus too it is like four bucks for a 30 day supply at Wal-mart/Target pharmacies.

It's identical to the "human" version. And for those who wonder about "is it pure?", "is it safe?" keep in mind that, for example, some people use these with very, very expensive koi fish and if they weren't pure well, they'd sure be raising hell with their vet, now wouldn't they? Too, the fish can't say "I feel better, I feel worse so they've gotta get it right the first time. It's human meds without the markup...

I remember when I was big into bodybuilding years ago, I bookmarked many online sites where guys were brewing up their own steroids from chinese hormone powders. I had sites where you could buy meds like antibiotics, pain, etc... i wish I would have stocked back then...

they really have focused on the more extreme preppers - and that tends to make non-preppers think we're all a little "tetched" vs. intelligent informed people.
I believe they do so on purpose. They put the show together in such a way as to make the people on it look crazy, which in some cases may well be accurate but certainly not in every case. I think they do so to use it as kind of a propaganda tool to downplay that any of the scenarios could happen.

What really drives that point home for me is the 'assessment' portion of each episode, where invariably they say the situation that person/family is prepping for is extremely unlikely.

That's standard counter intelligence propaganda at work.. exploit the people to make them appear as 'out there' as possible, and then follow that up with some BS about how what they believe is essentially false.

Is it selfish for us to want to keep our tricks up our sleeves?
On one hand, we always talk about how we are a very small percentage of the population, and no one else has a clue. Now with more people starting to get into prepping, i think it will make prices go up and availability go down.
IMO, these programs will have a detrimental effect on our ability to continue prepping.

The minor inconvenience of higher prices and exposure is offset by the difficulty of isolating or demonizing a group which is rapidly growing into a significant percentage of the population.
When there are only a few preppers, the group is clearly nuts.
When preppers include enough people that almost everyone knows one, it's a hobby no worse than the SCA, western reenactors, hippies, or mountain men gatherings. And for the record, all of those groups have skills worth learning.

I think some of you may be overestimating the number of people watching a National Geographic show on Tuesday nights.

Seriously - this will have no effect on the price of anything and will be VERY lucky if it airs more that 20 episodes.

There will always be methods of access to meds.
Live near the Mex border? Go to a pharmacy. Most of the border pharmacies have 'doctors' to prescribe whatever you wanted to buy. Be sure the bottle label shows it was prescribed to you, or bring back a photocopy of the prescription in your luggage when you cross back over, in case you are inspected. The Goberment is less worried about people prepping for a possible future need than they are about people practicing medicine without a license or killing someone else with illegal Botox.

I don't think the Gov will really care about you buying fish amoxicillin unless you start cooking meth with it. And I REALLY don't think you guys give the Gov enough credit; you really think they don't know about this until some guy on Nat Geo says it? Come on now.

In addition, I would rather pay higher prices NOW than have some guy try to kill me for it later. :thumb:

U.S customs does not seem to care about antibiotics, just controlled substances like pain killers and tranquilizers. I recently brought back 9 different regimens from Mexico, for myself and others, and they just looked through my bag containing my meds and similar stuff and the rest of the stuff in the trunk and said thanks, bye. All were in original boxes, no prescriptions. BTW, according to the U.S. Army studies, cipro has a VERY long shelf life, something on the order of 10 years...
