According to Defense One, a new product (appropriately) named "Skunk" was purchased by St Louis law enforcement officials responsible for public safety in Ferguson. The crowd control product is a liquid that produces a terrible stench, and is said to be more effective than tear gas at disbursing unruly mobs. It was apparently developed in Israel, and has been used against Palestinian rioters with productive results:

Although it hasn't been used yet, I suspect that if unrest grows any further this year it may still be used and set a precedent.
