when you are deployed ..I dont think you get "leave"

 

most likely she just hasn't taken leave in 2 years is all, or has not gone to her parents for leave anyway. When deployed, we get "mid-tour" leave

 

What does "female" have to do with it?

 

When you are in the military everyone is females or males (The whole human thing you know). I still designate when referring to to a person in a conversation.

Leave during combat tours is only as necessary, anywhere else it depends on the command and how much money you've got to spend on tickets.

Can u still catch hops?

My dad when he was still in in vietnam, he claimed you could Hitch a ride on any transport as it was available. Not comfortable...but functional.

 

Hops are available but usually you'll need a ticket to get from where they drop you to home unless you live close by. You can be bumped off a hop if it stops somewhere and then you're stranded unless they have frequent flights.
