I've picked them up at Walmart. Comes out to about .40 (cents) per round.
Not a bad price - for not a bad round.

Buy bulk if you can. Thats $400 bucks if you bought a 1000. If you buy a 1000 rounds from lets say Palmetto Armory, you would only pay $298.00 plus $12 shipping...no tax

Works great in the M4 (Bushmaster) did not want to work in my .223 varmint rifle, at all. I suspect the problem is my spring. I have a new one as well as a new firing pin but the wolf works great in it (62 gr. which is the recommended load for the twist that I have) so I haven't bothered to switch. I have a ton of the Wolf which gummed up the M4 something terrible so I will never use it all up with the varmint rifle.

 

Wally's around here usually have it, the price $39.97 per hundred (plus tax) has been steady for about a year.

for what its worth this exact ammo (value pk. and all)was chosen by sept. 2010 edition of "GUN TESTS MAGAZINE", as the most accurate/reliable round in each of the , "MSAR STG -556 BULLPUP" and the "FN FS2000 TACTICAL RIFLE"
it has also proved to be reliable and accurate in my own AR-15

I buy it too. I have a back up of a couple thousand rounds of Wolf. My Bushy eats both equally well. But I prefer the Federal. I buy one or two avery two weeks to put up. Which reminds me I need another 20MM can.

 

I buy America Eagle 5.56 in a 100 round box for $32.97 at the local Bi-Mart.

This is some good stuff. Not reloadable (berdan primed) but brass cased for good feeding and extraction, 62 gr ss109 projectiles. Sealed spam can too.

That's a good price for what you get. Much better quality than Tula and Wolf ... I have fired thousands of rounds of this through my Saiga .223 with absolutely zero issues. Never a FTF or misfeed.

That brass is of good quality as well for reloading.

Sorry, but $0.40 per round is not a good deal, not even close.

Several places online sell 223 for $0.30 per round in boxes of 20, like Palmetto State Armory. Cabelas routinely has it on sale for the same price. I would never pay more than that for plinking ammo, which is pretty much all that low end stuff is good for, unless for some reason I was desperate.

I would not run steel cased ammo through my AR15 if it was free.
