Duct Tape Armor

So Ive been pondering the practicalities of this idea I had the other day. Google's it with no avail which is cool cuz it makes it original. Duct Tape Armor with insertable, varying degrees of protective platings. For instance:
Paintball - the pain = DT + card board strips w/ option of light foamor cloth underneath.
PBs still break on u but no welts or bleeding at high Psi s.

Bladed weaponry = DT + metal strips inserted again padding is optional.
Alt: wood slats, sticks/ dowels, several layers of paper (ala books)(proven on mythbusters to work)(phone books are used in prison),acrylic or high polymer hard plastic inserts.

Small caliber munitions = DT + ceramic tiles to absorb the impact when broken.
Alt: layer(s) of steel, natural flag stone (to work like ceramic
but unlikely due to weight),scavenged BP glass.
The duct tape mainly used as a catylist to attach and arrange these items on you in a "suit". What do you guys think?
Ideas?

You could

But my father always told me "save money on what ever you can except for, things for the miss, things that'll save your life and condoms.... cause I love you but your annoying"

So id spend a little money and get a decent tactical vest.
But if you had to improvise than deck yourself out in duct tape.

If you can get ballistic aramid, like body armor or an old LEO bomb blanket you can treat the cloth and make the armor twice as powerful, or remove half the sheets to make two armor inserts at the same rating as the original at half the bulk. According to another text I read on the subject but can't locate at the moment, the Shear effect fully doubles ballistic and penetrative impact resistance, even in simple tee shirt material (though obviously you're not going to have bulletproof or impact proof teeshirts.

Ma B couldnt figure out where to put this thread. Other than the paintballing this is hypothetically a SHTF scenario where resources like BP vests are similar to gold an holy Grails in a world where militias and gangs are the new civil orders. Scrounged materials few resources. Duct tape from a stockpile.

i have seen telephone books used to up armor vehicles and such but duct tape i dont think i would trust tape to save my ass. i have been shot while wearing my dcu vest strike 3 plates in it and all and damn if i still didnt get a few broken ribs and it hurt like all hell! so duct tape? you might want to try making some strike plates out of layerd fiberglass and hardener just a thought.

YOUR A GENIUS ! Lol i just got a shirt and made a ghetto plate carrier using stuff around the house!

I used
-3 ceramic tiles
-ALOT of tin foil
- 2 rolls of duct tape
-a small amount of tarp
-a little bit of leather

I made a video of me shooting it with my 150lbs horton summit 150. Any of you interested in seeing the video? I shot it and it destoyed the arrow and cracked 1 tile! (3/4 in ceramic plate by putting 3 1/4 in tiles together)

I used some regular tiles, 3 duct taped together in my duct tape plate carrier and my crossbow only broke one(kind of i wouldn't say it broke it but it did some damage its a 150 lbs) Now i also added an extra plate of sheet metal. A toilet lid seems like it would be to weak, set the lid up and shoot it with something to test its resistance.

Planned to play more with alternating layers of cutting board and thin steel plate as vehicle armor, but havent gone that far yet. Bonding agent is Super sticky and somewhat flexible. In a small test, it stopped 22 by combining stretching, internal spalling and jacket separation. I suspect a good steel layer bonded properly will decap or deform a rifle round, and rely on internal layers to slow spin and force the jacket to separate. Cutting board material is amazing stuff.

Just haven't had time or place to work it further...
